This is why I use a strategy that disrupts their intended flow:
don't respond to their pressure. If all they're doing is regurgitating what their pundits spewed, tell them I already heard that and they've added nothing to the conversation. Tell them they have engaged in 0 critical thought. Try telling them they're missing facts and/or the context of the facts.
Whether you have said facts on the top of your head all ready to go or not is irrelevant. They are virtually incapable of engaging at that level. It's not as helpful as an actual discussion of the issues but at least they will realize they are a man among lions. It's a profound game-changer.
