If you’ve been working from home, or have lost your job, or are now doing your schooling online, etc, call your auto insurance and update your vehicle usage and mileage. It could lower your premium.

The magic number with GEICO is 3,500 miles per year for pleasure use. Just tell them you lost your job even if you didn’t. You’re rated on round trips per day AND total mileage so once you say you commute to work, even if right next door, it’s a higher premium.

Thank you for this excellent advice. Also, where do you source those tiny little coffee mugs? And lastly, I know you're cold blooded and all, but isn't Flo a raging diva? I hate that bitch.

DH is currently unemployed due to the shut-down, and her school is now online only. She changed her vehicle usage to “Pleasure”, and asked to lower the annual mileage because she’s not driving anywhere. It lowered her premium significantly.

That's an interesting thought. Too bad I just re-upped for 6 months.

Our change was done midterm. It probably depends on your carrier, though.
