You know, Netflix did just have a series about pandemics. Maybe someone was watching and said hey, the flu is pretty bad-infects millions and look at how many die from it. I have an idea. Let’s start doing death counts and tallies of how many people get it and freak out the world.

Flu outbreaks can shut down hospitals by overloading them with patients.
But it is in clusters because it doesn't spread as fast and easily as COVID19. They're different scales of impact.
