You know, Netflix did just have a series about pandemics. Maybe someone was watching and said hey, the flu is pretty bad-infects millions and look at how many die from it. I have an idea. Let’s start doing death counts and tallies of how many people get it and freak out the world.
If they did death counts of other things, people wouldn’t leave the house either.

Flu outbreaks can shut down hospitals by overloading them with patients.
But it is in clusters because it doesn't spread as fast and easily as COVID19. They're different scales of impact.
Much like they did during the summer of the shark, which I distinctly remember as a child growing up in a coastal locale.
