Trump is a fantastic public speaker - and excels at extemporaneous dialogue. He really is very compelling, which is why it’s such a tragedy to see all these politically blinded liberal shills screeching about how he is such a moron, doesn’t know what he’s talking about, repeats himself too much and has the “vocabulary of a 4 year old!!” They are so dense. I especially love to see Hollywood jerks go bazerk screaming “he’s not funny or clever at all!! The things he says are stupid and childish!!!”, as they throw a tantrum and get all red in the face.

It's like how newspapers write at a 5th grade reading level. It's intentional, and it's to effectively get your message across to the widest audience possible. I'm not a genius, or an award-winning writer, but I am a decent and published writer, an editor for an esteemed journal, and fairly articulate, and always tell people that it is not a reflection of intelligence - when you are a decent writer and/or speaker, you understand a lot more that it means very little. But when you aren't a great writer/speaker, or all that smart, good speakers come across as incredibly intelligent (which is why Obama was able to pull the wool over so many peoples' eyes).

Smart people can be some of the best speakers and writers in the world, or they can be absolutely terrible at it. It means nothing. My brother, for instance, is a doctor, and incredibly smart, but anytime he has to write something important, he sends it to me and asks me how it reads. Not because I'm smarter, but because writing is a skill that I possess in greater capacity than he does. Also, I'm not saying Trump isn't a good speaker, just that to the untrained eye (or ear, or brain) who doesn't understand his very calculated methodology, it can sound as if he isn't a good speaker, and even if I were to let them have that, and say "sure, he's not a good speaker," that doesn't reflect his level of intellect at all

I was in a class a few months ago, at a highly esteemed school/graduate program, and one of the students, an older and successful guy going back for another graduate degree, was commenting on something Trump said (I wish I could remember what it was specifically), and he was basically saying how stupid Trump is and he couldn't believe he said that. This student doesn't know my political leanings, and I basically commented "I mean... it's pretty obvious Trump was joking," and the student looked at me in disbelief, or as though I was joking. He honestly couldn't pick up on a blatant joke, and just thought Trump was retarded

Well put! I notice anti-Trump sentiment thrives on misleading, truncated quotes and lots of critical commentary. If someone has the intelligence to go directly to the source, suddenly what's being criticized isn't there.

I can't believe how often I see an entire article spun off of some benign interjection that he made in between making meaningful statements that are never even mentioned. Six random words quoted and the article that follows makes them think they have seen the complete picture.

Why even bother with an online forum, then, if 3 paragraphs is too burdensome for you? Took me 5 minutes to write, would be even less to read

edit - here's some more words to make it too long for you to read: forums like T_D are attractive to so many because we understand you can't effectively communicate anything meaningful in 240 characters or less. We watch long-form interviews and commentary because we understand 5-minute, edited sound-clips are taken out of context and are used more effectively as propaganda then actually informing or educating. Twitter, CNN, and NYT is >>>>> that way, if you can't read a few paragraphs, let alone contribute or participate in a discussion in any meaningful capacity other than posting a useless "TL;DR" response that literally benefits nobody in any way other than yourself. What benefit is there to letting others know you didn't read it? Pro-tip for the future: just... don't read it, and move on

Irony 101: Journalists blast Trump for his “elementary” vocabulary, but in J school they teach you to write with a 6th grade vocabulary to reach the largest number of people.

They hate him because he’s better at their own game; they want to take the ball home.
