Humans are animals. When we see a wild animal outside it's natural environment and getting sick, we understand that they aren't thriving because they aren't in their natural environment. But if a human catches a virus and starts dying because they were an obese smoker who ate twinkies for breakfast lunch and dinner we freak out and beg for scientists to come up with a magic potion to cure us all without having to change any part of our lifestyle.
