HCQ is a zinc ionophore. It helps zinc enter the cells and disrupt viral replication. Many people are deficient in minerals and zinc is one many need more of. If HCQ isn't paired with zinc, it's not as effective as it could be. If the patient already has bacterial pneumonia and isn't also given a z-pak, it will not be as effective as it could be.

There wasn't supposed to be a cure. There are many who want this to go on as long as possible. The FDA wanted at least a year to approve HCQ to treat Wuhan Flu.

100% agree. Dr Seheult does a really good talk on the mechanism of the cell and how Covid19 attacks explaining the ionophore you mentioned.

BECAUSE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE USED BEFORE THEY GO TO THE HOSPITAL

Not directed at you, OP. It’s directed at the article writer

Exactly. It prevents hospitalizations. Some guy on ingraham said he avoided 72 intubations. That’s 100%. He is supposedly one of the top Drs in the country as well. Why do you think Dem governors are banning it?

This is the problem with all academics/scientists imo. They are stringent adherents to their unwritten rules and protocols like “don’t criticize outside of your lane.”

That one in particular leads to academics just...trusting other academics not to be idiots and believing whatever it is they say, because “it’s not my area of expertise.”

If it were some brand new thing, I’d be with your family member, but since this is a very old drug, I don’t see the problem.

If it were only up to ppl like him, ppl would still be dying from cancer caused by stomach ulcers.

Wait, I thought China "defeated" the virus already?

Red China also released a second study a few days ago that showed it had positive effects: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.22.20040758v2

Red China also was behind some of the in-vitro (cellular) studies that demonstrated that HCQ could work: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7078228/

Red China government is completely un-trustworthy, but there are some decent medical researchers there.

My take: HCQ probably works under certain conditions for some people. I would probably ask for it if I got COVID-19 under off-label usage. But I also don't think it's the silver bullet that is going to magically solve this crises. I am glad that it is under larger serious study in NYC now.

This article is written by some global medical dude who is probably funded by a number of corrupt entities.
