Can we talk about the fact that the bats this virus came from are not native to Wuhan? And that China's primary virology center is up the dirt road from that wet market?

I bet a lab bat died and someone from the lab sold it as food. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

I think lab staff were exposed. Remember the whole "wetmarket" thing was what China suggested in the beginning, which they now don't even acknowledge.

I think that once they realized the toothpaste is not going back in the bottle they fingered the wetmarket nearby in a CCP style knee-jerk reaction as that sounds tons better than "we fucked up and didn't tell anyone until it was too late".

Also funny that they were calling it a seafood market here because dipshit reporters heard wet market and thought that meant seafood and not a dirty ass walk in butcher.

There are two labs. The level 4 is further away, but there is one practically across the street.

Higher class professional lab workers don't seem like the kind of people that would frequent a wet-market. It's the poor peasant types that are into that kind of thing. The grunts working the incinerator machines, however...

Old Chinese proverb: just because you're doing the worst thing ever, doesn't mean you should stop doing it.
