They're basically sending everyone with a social security number $1,200.. Next send everyone 18+ with a SS# a voter ID. Make it so the "poor people can't get IDs" crowd can't keep hiding behind this excuse.

I completely support this. I would Express support for a Republican "ID compassion act" anyone making less than 50k gets their ID subsidized. It'll shut the Democrats up, and help prevent election fraud. It's definitely worth it.

It is. Help everyone get an ID. A good use of tax dollars. It's an investment to keep future elections safe. At least then the money wouldn't be going overseas.

From what I remember, basically every single "voter ID" law that has been shot down in the past already had provisions to ensure poor people could get it for free. They still get shot down for some reason. We are basically one of, if not the ONLY first-world country that DOESN'T have voter ID laws protecting our elections. Even all the countries that democrats love to idolize for various reasons have voter ID. But of course, that is one of the only things they DON'T want to emulate about those countries.

Which sucks. I bet Obama vetoed it when the GOP had majority, but it wouldn't surprise me if some RINO's fucked shit up to get some sweet sweet ball sweat from some rich asshole that wants to keep his guys in power.

There are plenty of people who don’t get the stimulus money.

I don’t because I made over 100k in 2018.

My 3 adult children don’t because they are in college and grad school.

Etc. Of the 8 people in my household I think none of us qualify.

But honestly the stimulus is a drop in the bucket compared to what this shutdown is costing me, so I’m not too broken up.

I thought it was based on your 1040 from 2019 unless you haven’t already filed?

If you have files they use your 2019 taxes. Otherwise they use 2018.

Personally I think they should send it to everyone; and when people file their 2020 taxes if they made over $100k or whatever they have to send it back. Then it wouldn’t be delayed with all the checking and tax return reviews that have to otherwise happen. But of course congress is full of idiots.

I think they will get it. I read the bill and saw no exceptions for students. As long as they're taxpayers and don't make too much money, they'll get it.

What if their parents do their taxes?

One thing about that argument I never understood. There are more white people in poverty in absolute terms than there are black people. Wouldn't the argument be that this disenfranchises more white voters than minorities?

Exactly! Give every American with a social security a voter ID and if they lose it, they have to deactivate it via the internet or something before they can apply for another.

Prevents voter ID frauds and keeps America America.

If every American voted, we would have far more people like Trump instead of useless screamers like AOC or braindead pedos like Biden
