I'm not surprised at all, what he did was fucking retarded. I was on deployment during the swine flu outbreak and we had dudes quarantined in the Admirals quarters. The rest of us wore masks and cleaned the fuck out of the ship. The captain even became infected. You know what no one did? Blasted this shit to the media or any outsiders in any way. He had his chain of command down the hall ffs. The Navy takes these kinds of things extremely serious. I would lose faith in my Navy if he were not fired.

I don't know that that is the case....

But...

I wouldn't doubt it. This is how you think in current generation warfare.

Sounds like the soldiers that cheered this commander on joined during the Obama administration.

DrVSGGEOTUSPhD 0 points ago +1 / -1

You can cheer for the man, and simultaneously respect and understand the decision.

8
Troll 8 points ago +8 / -0

My initial thoughts too until I heard that he CC'd over twenty people, and apparently neglected the chain of command (which is unknown if true yet).

But there's a lot of shitty leaders in the military. "Fag Dog" Fattis was one. After 8 years of Obama...

3
RichardNixon 3 points ago +4 / -1

But Mattis was right! The Kurds were eventually slaughtered by the Turks, at a gun range in Kentucky, which aired on ABC, when the U.S. pulled out of Syria. His resignation predicted the whole thing.

Liberal_gun_guy 1 point ago +1 / -0

The navy secretary just got the boot for his decision tho.

1
LeftistsLoveStreetSh 1 point ago +1 / -0

Idk if that's the reason, but, he followed exactly as he should have per the UCMJ.

Generation of pussies is what we have. Make fun of old people all you want. We old folks have more balls and patriotism than the whole lot of this young generation of whiney spoiled little pussies. The commander fucked up. Talk shit get hit.

I've never voted for a demonrat. I've always voted for the lesser of the two evils. As I hope you will if you live long enough to get that chance. At least we old people give you young whiney pussies TRUMP

I don't think so. He found fucked up, got his career nuked. But that's a lot of experience and knowledge walking around there. Keep him working at something he can't screw up too bad.

He didn't say "OMG were just drifting because everyone is sick!!!" He was just bitching about his guys getting Sick

It's the new way soros shills are trying to fuck around. They pretend like they support the troops and are using it to say "Trump failed the military, see military guys we are on your side come vote for china... er biden".

Just like Lynch on the tarmac with Clinton, playing dumb or "that's normal" this fucker took it upon himself to denigrate Trump, jeopardize National Security, and stick it to the US Navy by ignoring rules every single man on that ship could recite verbatim on command. It's beyond a disgrace or lapse of judgement and he should be court marshaled and serve time. He tried to fuck America in the ass in order to virtue signal his "dedication" and should pay the price.

2
VictoriousOnceMore88 2 points ago +4 / -2

Fellow Pede, would I be correct in thinking that this weasel immediately trashed, mocked and belittled in every way our President when he was caught doing this most serious crime against our leader, our country and many others? Im trying to get an understanding if the above is how he denigrated our Commander-in-Chief (who was his boss above all too).

It’s sickening that this POS is of course celebrated by the stupid sailors and of course the Democrats but comes to no surprise the donkeys defend the wrong and want yet another bogus investigation.

15
BeanieRed 15 points ago +16 / -1

Very weak - giving up freedoms country-wide just because of a few charts and graphs. Local mayor just called for a state of emergency for our city of 20k, even though we have 35 cases countywide. He’s being praised on FB.

15
NotProgCensored 15 points ago +15 / -0

I didn't know the details of this yet. Instead of taking it up the chain to the Carrier Strike Group Commander, Rear Admiral Baker, who was right there on the carrier, the Captain emails HELP to dozens of people and one of them leaked it to a newspaper. Yeah, you're gone. The Navy was already working on plans to quarantine the sick sailors in Guam, maybe if Capt dumbass had talked to his Commander he'd have known that.

1
farbenreichwulf 1 point ago +1 / -0

Why wouldn't have Admiral Baker fired him then? Is it possible the chain of command refused? Making this a much more serious problem IMO

11
caliche27 11 points ago +12 / -1

That POS should be court-martial.

lanre 10 points ago +11 / -1

You can file complaints with Congress and that's actually pretty common if your Chain of Command refuses to address something, such as bad living conditions or things like that.

He also could've jumped directly to anyone higher in his chain of command after getting told to shut up about it by his boss. This looks bad usually but it would've been legal, since sometimes commanders try to force you to hide stuff from their superiors.

Instead he choose the third, illegal option of releasing it publicly to the entire world.

16
Kekception 16 points ago +16 / -0

Vet here. What he did was utter horseshit. You think it is any different from turning the ship around because it could be attacked? No it’s no different. This is a major battle carrier. If they are worried about infection spread they can do what we have always done. Quarantine.... what the fuck. Don’t praise this asshat I had better commanders loose their lives following orders in a bullshit war, but they died for their brothers and sisters. This pussy was afraid for a virus. Boo fucking who. Guess what. I take care of these positive patients on the daily. I’m a nurse you don’t see me pushing out and not doing my job. I don’t bitch. I don’t complain. I do my duty as a man, a patriot and a healthcare worker.

6
Changlorius 6 points ago +6 / -0

Young soldiers in good shape are basically immune to the damned wu-flu.

Reddit never mentioned that this captain was in charge of a carrier group. This is extremely serious.

Did he even try to go through his COC though?

Even so, he could be basically an ok guy who fucked up with some emails. And his sailors can give him a nice cheer, but still understand that he needs to go.

I dunno, man. Seems like they might be playing opposum to me. Misdirection is useful against your enemies. Over a quarter million active-duty navy and no other crew can run that ship. Yeah fucking right. But I'm just some internet asshole so don't listen to me. lol

2
Titan93 2 points ago +2 / -0

What happened? Did enemies sink the ship?

-6
IlxTheGreat -6 points ago +3 / -9

You know the difference between "Military Readiness" and WorldWide Availability for Deployment? I guarantee the Cpt did, The Admiral down the hall, receiving the daily "Readiness Reports", yeah, he wasn't reading them. You have to understand the difference between a ship where you sleep 6 inches from your crew mate, vs. sleeping in a Dorm Room. Kind of pisses me off the SecNav, who served in the Navy, doesn't know that. Hell, i spent 1 night aboard a wartime ship in 80. You don't forget exactly how close you are to the next guy. Stacked 4 high in cross way, with curtain between spaces. Now, remember the President's "Social Spacing" rules...add in 9 crewman who zoomed up to 100 in a week, with an entire crew of 5k at risk. Now, take that PBY and send the 20 most likely off the ship immediately as soon as you know, send them in groups of 20. Who is more pro-active? I'll wait while you think about it.

10
lanre 10 points ago +10 / -0

People have to work for retards all the time in the military and they all seem to do a good job of doing it without leaking classified information to the world.

-1
IlxTheGreat -1 points ago +1 / -2

If it was classified, they'd have a case. But he sent the msg to people in the Navy. His problem was sending it to so many people. I still don't buy the Admiral down the hall not knowing he had people with virus that affects readiness on board. Seems unlikely since Sailors are about as chatty underway as a knitting circle.

2
lanre 2 points ago +2 / -0

But it is classified information. So even sending it to your buddy in the Navy who works somewhere else and has no need to know is a problem.

0
IlxTheGreat 0 points ago +1 / -1

Letting people know you're sick isn't a problem, send information marked "For Official Use Only" Which should be the highest classification a daily readiness status gets isn't a problem. Sending it from your desk in the Navy, to the SF Chronicle?...well, that's a problem. But you would have to have a history of enforcing that level of classification to be able to prosecute. They stopped that during the Reagan Administration because so many idiots were violating the rules. Not on my watch, but I certainly saw it often enough. Way worse during Clinton's Admin, my old boss, who was never one to be trusted with classified info by himself got the boot during Bush's Admin. His Aide de Camp should be ashamed. But no, you're incorrect in that he could be prosecuted successfully, if that's what you're implying. It'd be nice. But there'd be a line about 200k long to get prosecuted in front of him first. Equal rights under the law.

2
lanre 2 points ago +2 / -0

Look, it's clear you've never been involved in handling this level of information. The combat readiness if an aircraft carrier is classified information. The combat readiness of your 10 man squad is not. Letting people know one person is sick isn't a big deal (usually). Letting people know a strategic asset like an aircraft carrier is about to be non-mission capable due to illness is a big deal, was always a big deal, and will always be a big deal.

1
grenades_and_ham 1 point ago +1 / -0

PBY? Are you referring to a Catalina PBY float plane?

0
IlxTheGreat 0 points ago +1 / -1

erm, no, it's actually an E-2. I was trying to think of an aircraft that could be used to transport troops from a carrier at speed to a quarantine point on a base in the pacific, while the NBC (Nuclear, Biologic, Chemical,) crews could clean the spaces. BTW, that E-2 won't work either. If they had an Osprey, that could work. But the decision to pull the pin and move would've had to be made preferably with the first diagnosis of the virus.
