It has nothing to do with race. The actual reason is that India has multiple parties, as in state level parties. So they want perfect voting without any illegals to gain seats through election and thats what keeps voting ID system and officials in check. Central govt is formed by coalition or alliances always. Also fun fact- the guy who introduced this, the election commissioner guy, he got lots of hate for it, now everybody applauds this measure considering how many illegals from Bangladesh reside there. Edit- I agree white countries face false racism allegations but race has nothing to do with Indian voter ID system. It didn't come into effect because its a non white country.
It's only racist if white people want voter ID.
India isn't a "white" country. So requiring poor people to have ID can't be racist there.
