Well would you look at that, they're making the stores empty in Vermont just for Bernie so he can feel comfortable like he's back home in Moscow.

They are closing the country down.

This extreme change to drastic and unnecessary authoritarian rule of free people generally ends in only one way . . .

ClownTamer 149 points ago +150 / -1

I’m not one to be an alarmist, but this shit can bubble up to be some kind of civil war. If you take a bunch of people that are largely fine, tell them there’s a vague illness out there that’s basically the flu, put them out of work, try forcing them to stay home, and then cut off all their supplies, they’re going to riot at some point.

93
Toughsky_Shitsky 93 points ago +94 / -1

People need to eat, need to feed there families, and need to replenish coffers by working.

Take all that away by closing down the country and people WILL survive .. and it won't be civil.

This is fast becoming a fucking disaster.

I don't live there and no I would personally go grab the seeds if needed. The point is that a lot of people wouldn't dare cross it and far more that see no issue with the idea in the first place.

1
txladyvoter 1 point ago +1 / -0

All they have to do is disallow any item by sale at the register. That will stock the sale because they don't allow open department entries any more like 1.00 to the Garden Dept.

not sure about a civil war but give it another month, two tops and theres going to be massive civil unrest. people are getting bored and are tired of being scared of something that people have a 98+% rate of surviving. It's not a good mixture. People already are on edge.

69
ClownTamer 69 points ago +73 / -4

It’s the fucking flu that spreads faster and gets a little worse. You don’t unplug the world over it. There have been no grim projections of it that have all been correct in the slightest. They have a 100% failure rate in predicting how bad this would be by many orders of magnitude. There are no relevant facts or statistics to support anything that has gone on during this.

2.7% of CONFIRMED Cases, making it probably close to 1.3% with 90% of those being 80yo or above...not scary at all. And it doesn't kill kids. H1N1 killed 500 schoolage kids in one month and they didn't even think about closing schools.

Mods, you can't just let these shills run hogwild all over this site. It's obvious what this fool is: it's obvious what they all are. All of them try to shut down debate by calling us nonsupporters of Trump. They all say "why don't you support Trump", they ALL play up the danger of the virus, and they all refuse to acknowledge the existence of the cure or any way of handling this other than destroying the economy. The appeal to authority is the most blatant giveaway, but the whole package is unmistakable. They all have to go.

-6
WEWLADSDALWEW -6 points ago +7 / -13

You know it’s funny, because I’m one of the people you’re talking about and to me I’m thinking, “all of these iTs JuSt ThE fLu people must be paid shills.”

I just don’t see how openly, aggressively denying everything the President says about Coronavirus and constantly talking about how stupid his shutdown is can possibly be considered Pro Trump. To me, you might as well come here every day and say voter fraud is fake, and voter ID is bad policy. It’s not that I don’t think you should be able to think that—think for yourself. What I don’t understand is why you’d do it in a forum that is supposedly dedicated to exclusively positive discussion of Trump and his presidency.

21
wellhungkid 21 points ago +22 / -1

the thought of massive economic destruction scares me more than this virus. Call me a shill but i'll keep telling people that its just the flu. we need to move on and let the cards rest where they may. Humans aren't meant to be closed off in a house for months on end.

10
Pedutoisacuck 10 points ago +11 / -1

Unlike most people talking about this I actually had and survived ARDS. It was about a year before my lung capacity felt normal again and 4 to 5 years before I could breath air below 25 degrees without shortness of breath accompanied by intense stabbing pain. But, and this is important, I fully recovered. My point being it'll take years before anyone can say with certainty whether these people truly have "life-long pulmonary damage" or not.

Vermont: "non-essential items not listed in the Executive Order, including, but not limited to: arts and crafts"

Where the flying frick do they think people are getting supplies to make homemade masks? Masks that the CDC is now recommending people wear to prevent asymptomatic spread.

"entertainment (books, music, movies)" - They want people to stay home, but they want to deprive people of means to keep from being bored at home and end up going outside?

We'd be better off shutting down the Vermont state government and declaring them non-essential.

Well the projections (yes, they’ve been off but they are what everyone is working off of) say we’re going to reach 2600 deaths a day on April 16. That’s pretty bad.

9
LeroyJenkins 9 points ago +10 / -1

Hahaha you believe the projections

-7
WEWLADSDALWEW -7 points ago +1 / -8

I don’t know if “believe” is the right word, especially since if you look at them there’s a WIDE range of “possibilities”, with the 2600 number being an average of them. I don’t “believe” that we’re going to see 2600 deaths on April 16. I think that when you ask what it is that is driving people to buy the masks and what not, you can invoke some secret knowledge conspiracy theory or you can say, well you know, the publicly available projections say such and such.

8
AloweiseEdelHuberIII 8 points ago +9 / -1

It’s all bull shit. You can mark down any death as suspected covid 19 and it counts. Soon you’ll have more people dying in a hospital of covid 19 then were hospitalized for covid 19.

-7
WEWLADSDALWEW -7 points ago +1 / -8

See that’s when I think this crosses the line into conspiracy theory nonsense. If the deaths are lower, you’ll see it as evidence that coronavirus wasn’t serious. I they’re higher, you’ll say it’s evidence of fake Reporting. So it is impossible to look at it any way besides how you already see it.

Bullshit. America isn't conquerable in any sort of conventional war. Far too large, far too many people with guns, and the only way in by amphibious invasion against the largest Navy in the world? Even if 75% of the US Navy ceased to exist, they don't have to sink every ship, they just have to make an invasion fail. Which they easily could.

23
TickleMissle 23 points ago +23 / -0

Our society has been slowly lulled into this acceptance. This is a coordinated and planned take down happening right now. Small encroachments compounded over time. This MUST NOT be allowed to continue. The damage being done right now is FAR beyond that which we can wrap our minds around. We're being bled out while Karen sits and claps on facebook about how this is all a POSITIVE thing we must do to stop the virus. Fuck Karen. Fuck liberals. Fuck this virus. We are not cattle!

How very socialist of you. I mean there are people in the world (mainly older people) that aren't online to do shopping. They would need to go to a store to replace broken electronics. Even just basic ones like a kettle.

But it's all about trapping people in their homes for months on end. To let them sink into depression with little or no support or hope.

Its strange seeing states turn into socialist states (within a non-socialist country) with little blowback. There are many ways I thought the far left would turn America into a socialist state. Just never seen this method.

15

This shit is escalating faster then I thought. Do democrats actually expect liberals to accept this? I find this whole situation odd. 8
Marshall 8 points ago +8 / -0

A non-political take.

In Texas, our box stores have devised a system where a limited numer of persons my be in the store making distancing easier. There are 250 carts, everyone has to have a cart, they are wiped with disinfectant after each use before returning it to the front.

The first thing you see is a hand sanitizing station and you are advised to use it. Then you are given your cart. There are no restrictions on what you may purchase, but reasonable limits on quantities for essential items like bread, milk, eggs etc.

It works if there is no panic hoarding.

5
VTmaga 5 points ago +5 / -0

That makes total fucking sense. No wonder we aren't doing it.

2

Of course Vermont is a blue state and we know that politics come before everything else.

5
EricCharliemella 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'm counting on you, Governor Abbott, to reopen Texas as soon as humanly possible. Texas needs to lead the way and others will follow. Vermont and all the other blue states simply won't be able to stand by idle while the red states get back to normal.

Disregard this ILLEGAL LOCKDOWN!

This is ridiculous! It would make more sense to limit the number of people in a store than to decide what is or isn't essential to each person and family. Hopefully, this backfires so badly that a few lefties wake up and realize that government doesn't know what's good for us and that's WE THE PEOPLE tell them what to do and not the other way around.

Look, I am a essential worker, in that I support all the IT equipment and POS equipment at stores and nothing pisses me off more is the assholes who think it's a holiday to go shopping for items that are not essential. Easter items? Room decorations wtf?

I'm out here trying to be safe from them and their little infection on two legs as I perform my job.

Those assholes ARE supposed to be home or elsewhere so not to infect the rest of us who are working.

Come in for essential items, but stop buying bikinis. Easter coloring, baskets and electronics.

Keep your little walking infections home or with someone else, dont bring them to the stores.

Anyone gets close to where I may be working I just walk away, go to restroom, wash my hands again then return.

I just cant wait for all this bullshit to end!

No! I'm in Mass. My ancestors fought on the Lexington Green, my 6th great grandfather fought at Monmouth NJ. This whole country is worth it.

Let's not just be headline reader's pedes. They're cutting back the sales of non-essential products. Not food and water.

"Large “big box” retailers must cease in-person sales of non-essential items not listed in the Executive Order, including, but not limited to: arts and crafts, beauty, carpet and flooring, clothing, consumer electronics, entertainment (books, music, movies), furniture, home and garden, jewelry, paint, photo services, sports equipment, toys and the like.

Large “big box” retailers must:

Restrict access to non-essential goods. Stores must close aisles, close portions of the store, or remove items from the floor. Only offer non-essential items via online portals, telephone, delivery, or curbside pickup, to the extent possible. Except in the event of emergencies threatening the health and welfare of a customer, showrooms and garden sections of large home improvement centers should be closed. "

Drawing arbitrary lines in the sand over what is essential and nonessential is damn retarded. We need more than just food and water if we’re supposed to be prisoners in our own homes. Just more tyranny.

I was just pointing out this. The post makes for a misleading statement when lots of people these days go by facts and spread of word from seeing only a headline.

Well if you want to support China by buying Chinese products sold in Walmart by all means use your freedoms to do so.
