They use front page news to push what they know is a lie, and they use back page fine print to say "whoops".
It's been that way for decades, and it will continue because it works. The drooling masses read the headlines and don't have the attention span to read that far into stories. Most don't read past the 1st or 2nd paragraph, which is why vital information which often reveals that the headline was simply clickbait is buried in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th paragraph of a story.
