So much divisiveness over face masks. I liked the Cornell doctors viewpoint that face masks can be a deterrent for “our” really bad habit of touching your face (wash hands, don’t touch your face!)

I’m all for people doing what makes them comfortable. I do not trust the scientists who have come out saying you can get it by breathing (I guess that’s the latest scare).

Anyway, doesn’t seem like it should be this controversial, unless you think the government is going to mandate them based on unproven science?

It's an unfortunate part of years of gaslighting that's been going on around facemasks because surprise surprise, the government would rather stay incompetent than stock up the necessary supplies to actually be prepared for disaster. Can't spend millions on a strategic stockpile, that money has to go to the pork and kickbacks pile.

Some of the frankly downright dumb arguments against:

Masks are dangerous if you wear them incorrectly! Too complicated! People won't wear them correctly! I suppose we tell teenagers to fuck hooker pussy raw because a rubber is too hard to figure out. TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO WEAR THEM THE RIGHT WAY, WITH A BANANA IF YOU HAVE TO.

People will touch their face to adjust the masks! Ever tried watching to see how often people touch their faces anyway? You do it all the time, without even knowing. Moot point.

Masks don't protect against infection Well, even if this were true (It's not), they don't have to. As long as they catch your fluids going out it's already doing something.

It will cause a panic! Don't worry, the MSM is doing a great job on that front. That ship has sailed. I'll only concede this point if we ban news cameras from ICU wards, which look like war zones on a good day anyway.

Very good points, which point out all the conflicts and controversy. Yes, it stems from a shortage.
