There's a difference between socialism and keeping the economy from completely drowning during an international crisis.

I have had enough though, yes. We have to go back to work. Old people stay home, everyone else start living your life again.

Exactly right. The government needs to compensate us for making us take these extraordinary measures.

government needs to compensate us

And where exactly does "government" get their funding?

This is why safety nets are garbage. They do nothing when you need them. This is a crises. This is when government needs to support people. If it can't help us now, just scrap it altogether. If we can't fund a shutdown, end it now. It's not that complicated. Don't do things with government you can't afford. We are owed compensation from the government for their damages to our industry.

Because it’s an extraordinary situation, man. I’m as conservative as anyone, but what are you supposed to do? The government says that for public health reasons we can’t just go about our business. They have to compensate for that.

Nobody will accept this long term. Obamacare was designed to be a permanent entitlement.

Except it's not. Known cases are known because someone had a severe enough case to get tested. The reality is almost certainly that the mortality rate is less than one percent because most cases are mild or even asymptomatic. I'll touch that topic all day long.

And, what about "non profits" like Soros' Open Society network?

Is he going to get yet another deluge of taxpayers' hard-earned cash?

Disturbing.

I agree, we never should have shut down. But we're here now so we probably need this. Shitty situation.

u/Anaconda blocked me before I could even reply to his comment.

What a fag.

lol

I was going to tell him yeah that sucks. Now is it worth destroying the greatest economic engine the world has ever seen, and turning America into a third world shithole country from now on for those that survive?

I agree with you. This situation make me a little nervous. I trust Trump, but I don’t trust the government and will never be.

This is not what socialism is. Not even close. This is a President trying to help his citizens make it through a short term difficult time. Huge difference.

If the money is used for payroll it gets rolled into a grant, doesn’t need to be paid back

What about businesses that don't need it? What if their business saw no dip at all in sales and activity during this crisis? The way this was written, they will also get paid.

Guaranteed the dems answer to every minor inconvenience is to shut down the country and drive us all into indebted servants.

This should never happen again.

Even your wife’s boyfriend knows that the mortality rate is much lower due to the amount of asymptomatic people.

Awesome.

And does anypede know when I get my drumpfbux? I want to buy a bunch of MyPillows with it.

I don't need this check, I have a nice pillow already in my bank account (and I still have a job) but if they're going to throw free money at me, I might as well use it to support a fantastic American company.

More cash in people's pockets = more sales for you!

And if you aren't joking, make sure you carefully QC your inventory in the coming months, product from foreign sources may be spiked to hurt us more if there is an increase in usage due to potential recession. Just a thought from a friendly paranoid pede.

Here's what I have figured out while trying to process our PPP:

--Federal (i.e. Presidential) intentions are good

--SBA is not really adding any value except they had the existing "funnel"

--Local banks, who are actually distributing funds, are screwed because they have millions of customers applying for these loans and have to front the money before reimbursement by the Federal govt. One banker I know said they committed to lending $10,000,000 and had applications for $16,000,000 in the first hour.

--POTUS has promised more money for this program if they run out

So...the banks are:

  1. Only giving loans to their customers...must have an pre-existing account for processing.

  2. Moving very slowly and are majorly overwhelmed.

  3. Generally, really pissing off their customers who have held business accounts with them.

This is ALL we needed. Just this, run through congress in one day, across his desk by the evening, and in effect TWO WEEKS AGO.

We absolutely DID NOT NEED the rest of the pork.

The banks are putting roadblocks and red tape in the way of people applying for these loans.

1
DingDongDitch 1 point ago +1 / -0

At BOA you must have an existing line of credit. I do not, just a business check and savings so I’m screwed.

I dont see Government giving people a paid vacation to stifle the spread of virus as a bad thing. I see the government paying us to NOT go back to work will be the problem. Americas are gonna get really tired of this soon. Theyre pushing against us in every fashion imaginable in order to elicit a response...and that response will not be in their favor.
