Yeah I feel like generally all journalists are using twitter as a lazy survey as if it is representative.
I wish it was a standard that if you refer to a group as if they're representative you had to be clear about what it was.
For example "376 of 300 million twitter users had negative responses" rather than "a large number of people are angered by xxx". Would put into perspective how little they know about what the real view is.
