My “friend” hit me up yesterday to shovel some “gotcha” article down my throat b/c I told him I wasn’t wearing a mask when I went out (covid19 isn’t an airborne virus). Anyways, he was going off saying how trump was a moron and how republicans care about money more than human lives, and as his figurative head was blowing out clouds of steam from his ears, I told him that as of right now, the death count in the United States does not elicit the response we have had to corona-Chan.

Which is true.

As of right now, the death toll in the states isn’t above 10 thousand. But everyone seems to be acting like we are already at 100 thousand deaths.

Now, I understand that virus’ spread and you have to be preventative in your actions to lessen the damage, but I don’t understand the outrage to our current reaction. The outrage to our current reaction is in line with 100 thousands deaths as of today, rather than the 10 thousand or so we have. The outrage of the libs would suggest they’re are bodies in the streets, our mass graves are overflowing, and Trump is doing news conferences in his bathtub, facing a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke.

That’s just not how it is right now

I told my friend this and his response was “lol just wait”. Seriously??? Sounds to me like he’s hopeful of an event that yields mass death just to say “told you so” and justify his hatred of Trump. Sounds to me like instead of praying for the safety of our country, he’s praying for the collapse of our medical system.

Personally, I don’t believe anything I hear on the news (that’s including Fox) and so I don’t believe the official narrative of corona-Chan. Wether Trump has his hands tied and had to play along, or he is using this real threat as a way to delivery blows to the DS under the fog of the virus; I’m not sure. The number don’t really add up as of right now, but this is past the point.

The point is this; libs are fucking crazy. TDS is real folks. God bless Trump and lets fucking open the economy back up ASAP

Here is the official CDC guideline of reporting a death as due to C19.

Should “COVID-19” be reported on the death certificate only with a confirmed test?
COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death.

So basically all ARDS related deaths can now be assumed to be due to C19 with no testing required at all.

The guideline is perfectly suited to a situation where the person died under medical care. The pulmonary therapist would very much know if their pneumonia patient started out with Wuflu or what.

We have Drs and people who know Drs saying that this is being abused, and deaths completely unrelated to Wuflu are counting as part of the plannedemic.

IOW we are totally fucked if we're so spineless that we don't yank all these mass murderer Governors out of Office immediately, using torches and pitchforks, and whatever else we have

I see this same attitude among some friends..."just wait, you'll see" has been their chant for years now. If something bad doesn't happen theyll look like assholes. That's what worries them apparently.

It’s crazy man, they’re TDS is full blown these days. Praying for mass deaths just to say “I was right! Trump sucks!”

Hey hey, leave the hippies out of this. I was bashing the libs. I’d probably identify as a hippie over any other word, but I still have a brain

I worked with a guy that was all giddy when he heard about Trump Jr meeting a Russian in Trump tower. He was thinking that would be the end of Trump and that it was proof that he was installed by Putin.

If what he believed were true, why would that be making him happy? Shouldn't it have saddened him if he really believed it? I just don't understand these people.

DisgustedByMisleadia 2 points ago +2 / -0

A bit of a tangent: did you see the latest news about that meeting?

Mueller knew there was nothing to the meeting. He interviewed the translator, who told him what happened, and it matched what Trump, Jr and the other people in the meeting said. But, Mueller didn't bother to include that in his report.

Actually, substitute Weissman for Mueller in all cases. Mueller was just a figurehead to make it look "bipartisan".

And you've seen the evidence that this was no problem at all? It has been posted here

Averon 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've seen it, I know it was no problem at all and knew it was no problem back then as well, but the guy I worked with at the time thought Trump was going down because of it and was actually happy.

Of course liberals it to get worse. Despite their bleeding hearts, they are overjoyed to see the downfall of what they perceive as an evil country. The more desperate the situation, the more likely they can implement their agenda. Whether it is World War I Russia or post WWII China, commies thrive in hard times by convincing people that they have been wronged and that is exactly what the media has been doing this whole time. Leftist don’t want the Republic to stand, they are begging for revolution and state control. Keep your powder dry for November cause it’s going to get ugly.

covid19 isn’t an airborne virus

hay, communist WHO said exactly same thing!

1
Razeontherock 1 point ago +2 / -1

But it's not airborne. There's SO much bad information out there! It doesn't really qualify as an aerosol either. It'll fall in the air, affected by gravity. Higher humidity helps this happen. It is still possible to encounter it in the air, but you're not likely to get infected that way unless you spend 15 minutes or more with an infected person.

Thanks for the response! There's so much confusion, and it fuels the panic. This has to be deliberate. Like with all the confusion about masks.

I really don't like being pedantic, but for the sake of clarity:

in your first sentence you state that "it's possible to transmit the disease without tactile contact with the virus." Isn't that incorrect? We still have to come into physical contact with the virus, and enough of it, to become infected. Right? It's just that contact with the virus can take place without touching an infected person, or object.

Is that true?

2
DisgustedByMisleadia 2 points ago +2 / -0

I was trying (inartfully) to explain that "airborne" meant without tactile contact -- "tactile" meaning "touching", usually with your fingers.

But of course, it can also be transmitted by tactile contact. I suspect that's a large vector, especially within households.

1
Razeontherock 1 point ago +1 / -0

There's still confusion. "Airborne transmission is distinct from transmission by respiratory droplets, which are large enough (usually greater than 5 μm) to fall to the ground rapidly after being produced."

SOURCE: wiki. I hate using wiki as a reference, especially if it's the SOLE reference. I looked and that page has been updated lots very recently by pulling CDC info, which doesn't really increase my confidence in its accuracy any considering all the bad information circulating. Pretty sure this line near the top of the page hasn't changed any though.

Does the quoted phrase disagree with your understanding of the term?

Gotcha! Thanks. I'm less concerned about technicalities or semantics, and more concerned with going to work and how to keep myself safe.

Ok, back to the definition of airborne vs aerosol as it pertains to pathogens spreading. It took some digging through the CDC website and I did find something discussing it. Had it loaded into cache and ready to paste and wouldn't you know it, everything started locking up and websites wouldn't navigate and I had to shut everything down and reboot.

SARS 1 was at the bottom of the section, listed among "droplets." Not aerosol. Not airborne. Certainly airborne in the sense that it will fly through the air in a parabolic curve and still be able to cause problems. Not airborne in the sense that it will stay aloft and be carried by the breeze indefinitely and we have to be worried about just being outside if there's nobody around. Not small enough that it can get into our lower respiratory system by inhaling, either; it has to infect us and grow it's way to get there.

Now they didn't mention the current strain, but SARS 1 is the closest thing we know of which is why this is called SARS 2. And they did mention the greater than 5 um distinction which apparently is the size that distinguishes aerosols from respiratory droplets. So this agrees with both the wiki and what national experts have told us all along, that this spreads by respiratory droplets. CDC claims that anything smaller than 100 um can't be seen by the naked eye and these droplets containing this virus can be 5 um and still cause trouble.

I'm guessing we won't know anything more definitive than that until the crisis is over. I'd like to know how long these droplets containing virus can stay alive on say cardboard and canned goods. I'm guessing if it's been sitting there a week since coming out of the store it's inert. These aren't tardigrades, right? Lol

This needs to be plastered everywhere. I heard some call in question type o panel on Fox the other day, and the question was “we live 150 yards down wind from a hospital, do we need to worry about contracting corona through the air”. Now, an informed doctor would say, “no fucking way, it’s not airborne, it is transmitted by droplets”. Instead, the “experts” on Fox dances around the question, didn’t give a specific answer other than “you should be fine”.

This is fear mongering at its finest. The CDC said we should be wearing masks in public purely for the reason that it would deter us from touching our faces. No other reason. But when my “friend” hit me up with his gotcha shit, he was acting like the CDC said the virus was airborne.

Disinformation everywhere, and in my opinion, on purpose to cause fear.

Razeontherock 2 points ago +2 / -0

There's still confusion about masks. I think most of it comes from the early announcements from our "experts" on the subject of masks. I would have bought some immediately had they not said anything. Now I can't get anything that hasn't come from China.

Just today I saw a conversation on a different forum where a small jazz band had been asked to come perform for a senior citizens home. The proposed arrangement was that this this 7 piece band sit 6' apart from each other, they use speakers anyway just point them at the building and the senior citizens would stay in their own apartments but go out on the balcony to hear.

I don't know if you know anything about that business but activities directors are very creative with trying to keep their folks happy. I think this is a good thing.

Out of all the possible reasons NOT to do this performance, prevailing opinion was they might get the senior citizens sick. At a distance of over 50 yards. I wanted to say something but there were Doctors and other professionals all saying the same thing so I just shut up. I want to pull my hair out! There is NO way you could propel droplets from ground level up to a second story balcony, even if you were right under it and trying. Wind instruments have like 0 air pressure at the exit point, the bell.

Facking idiots, panicking

2
somethinsomethin47 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

That’s what I’m saying, if the senior citizens were 15 feet away, there wouldn’t be a problem. Any doctor that is on TV saying otherwise is injecting fear into the masses. Fucking leftists

Serious question: what does your "friend" think Trump should be doing in instead of what is being done now?

Does he think Trump should do more, rather than less? And if it is "more", can Trump do it within the confines of the law?

I don't think many -- on both sides -- realize the federal government's hands are tied by the Constitution. It has to be across state lines, or across national borders.

Inside the states is up to the states. Trump can't order them to do much, and he can't order them to stop. There is plenty of precedent that puts public health orders in the hands of the states, as long as it's applied evenly (i.e. not burdensome only on a protected class).

2
somethinsomethin47 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don’t think he thinks about that. He just catches news articles by their title (bashing trump), and sends them to me as a way to say “gotcha, orange man bad”. When I say to him, “you can’t just lock down everyone in the United States as a president, this isn’t a authoritative state”, he spews more, “reee orange man bad”.

It’s not logical, even if the news he is reading presents the opinions in logical ways. He just parrots whatever is being parroted.

1
DisgustedByMisleadia 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, he isn't thinking.

If Trump were to do what he apparently wants, the Misleadia would portray that as "OMG, Trump is a dictator!!!". And, he would probably parrot that, even though it's logically inconsistent.

Classic example: Trump was xenophobic for the travel ban from China, right up until the moment they decided he acted too late.

2
somethinsomethin47 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s funny cause I have a thread bookmarked on my phone from Jan 31st when he put the ban on all people coming from China, which shows the opposition from the Dem leadership, and he says “he didn’t do enough”.

You’re 100% right, if Trump would have taken a huge leap and locked down everyone from day 1, the libs would be screaming “reeee literally hitler”.

It’s bullshit

2
DisgustedByMisleadia 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s bullshit leftism.

FIFY.

It's airborne. But you have to be in a room with bad ventilation for a half hour with someone that has it to catch it by air. Better to just shake hands and touch your eyes if you want to get it.
