They reversed that though. Reusable bags are banned and plastics are back. You'd almost think it was a pointless feel good bullshit policy that did nothing but waste more resources by forcing you to wash that bag once a week.
As someone who works in groceries, I don't have a problem with reusable bags and think there are a lot of positives to using them. That being said, nobody should be forced to use them, and if people want to use paper or plastic instead, they should have every right to.
California as a STATE banned it. Local cities are now reversing the ban. In Florida it was the opposite. Cities banned the bags and are now reversing it.
I tend to chose paper because that's what I empty my garbage cans into. When I do chose plastic, I stuff it into another plastic bag filled with all the other scrunged up plastic bags haha. When that is full I throw it into the recycle bin for plastic bags that sits outside my local grocery store. To be honest, there is nothing wrong with plastic, but I prefer paper and reusable bags. I also don't believe in legislating it like the Democrats. I have a hypothesis that conservatives tend to chose paper over plastic and the reverse is true for Democrats (except for the extremely hardcore), but I have no proof since I have not tested this belief to yeild any concrete statistics and other measurements.
I use the paper for recycling as well. Small cans and plastic bottles I just chuck loose into the big recycling bin that one wheels out to the curb haha. If you mean small garbage cans, the platic bags do fit super nice.

You know what I did with my old single use bags? I saved em up and used em for the trashbin.
Now I buy plastic bags that are thicker JUST to use for the garbage.
Only in San Francisco.
In LA (and elsewhere) disposable plastic bags are still banned.

Never forget when I went to subway in California and they made me pay for a bag for my sandwich
