Actual hospital Pede here. Of about 500 beds we only have ten positive patients in a medium sized city. The university hospital here has about 25 out of 800 beds. This shitdown is crushing the rest of the medical economy.
Wife works in an ICU. The workers are getting sick and a few of them are in the hospital as patients. The support of medical staff by the hospitals seems to be pretty bad from an HR perspective. They are totally unclear on what to do if you worked with a patient who wasn’t on contact and is now I’m under investigation, they make you keep working while waiting for results... People are mentally breaking down because the media is pushing this so hard and because they never thought they would have to deal with a traumatizing situation. Sounds odd but we don’t prepare our healthcare workers very well to deal with these types of stresses.
Most people are being treated and discharged but a few high risk(older and in poor health) are passing.
