Dude was a carpenter. When was the last time you saw a wimpy carpenter?

fat50, here's an interesting thought for you:

I have often pondered the notion of a young Jesus growing up ina carpenter's shop. And how strange that must've been since there are no trees that grow there in the desert. No lumberyard to go get your lumber from. Did they walk all the way to Lebanon and get cedar? Maybe they had a donkey with a cart?

I'm no expert in the language, but I've heard it explained that the word rendered "carpenter" could in fact mean that, but it would also mean whatever building trade was appropriate. And in that region at that time things were built out of stone. So my boss is a Jewish Mason? This makes a lot more sense, and goes along with many Scriptures. He is the stone that the builders rejected, for example ...

Now, have you ever seen a wimpy mason? Have you worked with masons? I have.

Yes. I used to be a metal fabricator. Worked with all sorts on construction projects.

Either way - mason or carpenter - Jesus was probably buff.

Either trade would have you raising blisters at 5 years old. He was no wimp!

All of a sudden I’m amused by the thought of Jesus lying there getting nailed to the cross and critiquing the technique of the soldiers hammering in the nails.
