I'm no expert in the language, but I've heard it explained that the word rendered "carpenter" could in fact mean that, but it would also mean whatever building trade was appropriate. And in that region at that time things were built out of stone. So my boss is a Jewish Mason? This makes a lot more sense, and goes along with many Scriptures. Yes. I used to be a metal fabricator. Worked with all sorts on construction projects.
Either way - mason or carpenter - Jesus was probably buff.
