Well one possibility is that there’s a massive and unprecedented public health crisis going on that the entire world is struggling to keep up with/fight, and so they’ve restricted movement to try and get a handle on it in order to try and save lives/buy time. The press may be opposed to chloroquine because despite some promising results in small scale studies they’re not sure that it really works to treat the disease (and also Trump supports it and they hate him). As far as Trump and Fauci, Trump might be supporting him because Fauci is a physician with 40 years’ experience dealing with infectious diseases and stuff.
The only number that's going to tell us how deadly this virus actually is will be the mortality rate compared to the previous years. We have that data coming in already from Europe. http://inproportion2.talkigy.com/ is a good site that has updated information about what's happening in England and Wales as well as the rest of Europe.
And guess what? This flu-season has seen less deaths overall than previous ones.

That’s just one way of looking at it though.

I made a post about the work the Swiss Propaganda Research is doing on the matter, but it didn't pick up much steam. https://swprs.org/a-swiss-doctor-on-covid-19/ worth reading!
