Not a chance

Been wearing Masks out for 3-plus weeks and gloves.

We have only gone “out” once a week on Mondays.

Mainly because Mom is 83, and we don’t need to inherit just yet. . ,

Full strip down from doing her weekly shopping before entering her house and after everything from store is wiped down.

Fuck no. The constitution doesn't contain the word unless.

OnlyTrump20 12 points ago +15 / -3

No, because having to constantly re-adjust it makes you keep touching your face.

OhLollyLollyPop 1 point ago +1 / -0

I ordered some of those face shields. Much better when coupled with a face mask. I can't see when I would use it, but at least we have it because this crap will be back again.

Proud_American 11 points ago +13 / -2

No mask needed if you’re not sick. It’s more to prevent getting someone sick if you’re infected. Shouldn’t be out in public if you are sick regardless of a mask or not.

Problem with applying your point is we would have to wear a mask indefinitely. Unless we have a testing monitor for all viruses and diseases, we would always be in that state of being unsure.

It depends on where you live. If I lived in a germ infested inner city, like NYC, I would wear one outside. Where I live, we have half acre lot subdivisions and cow pastures. No crowding.

good. Looked at patterns to sew, but not yet. Just improvised with available pull-up collar for going into store.

No. Nothing about the nature of viral transmission has changed in the last four months. Medical experts and virologists have been explaining that N95 Surgical masks are ineffective at preventing you from catching a virus for years.

Now that people are panicking, suddenly the CDC suggests that you can go ahead and make a mask out of a t shirt if it makes you feel better. It's placebo. The virus isn't even airborne in the first place.

Surgeons wear them in a sterile operating room where they'll be leaning over a person that's cut open. Even then it's primarily much larger bacterial germs that the mask is helping with. In actual contagion control situations, medical professionals wear respirators not paper masks. The respirator is part of an entire system including body suit, gloves, and shoe covers all properly sealed up, and they decontaminate in between exposures.

None of that has much to do with walking around a grocery store. Covering your mouth when you cough does just as much to protect others around you as a surgical mask does. The virus isn't airborne. It exists in mucous and sputum which may be ejected in small droplets when you cough or sneeze. It's not in your normal breath even if you are immune to it.

The big problem though, is that wearing a mask isn't without it's downsides. They can actually begin to proliferate bacterial infections. Then can give people a false sense of security causing them to do things they wouldn't do otherwise such as visiting elderly relatives or immuno-compromised people. They can actually increase the amount people touch their face which is a much more likely vector of infection than breathing. And they're not actually sealed so they mostly just redirect your coughs and sneezes out the side of your face rather than stopping them.

Surgeons don't wear them all the time or for prolonged periods.

Yes. I wore masks at work for 20 years. I never got the flu even though I worked in a busy ER during flu season.

Im not too vain to protect myself from several days of high fever, headaches, pain, cough. If sick people would just stay at home, it wouldnt be necessary.

My county made it mandatory under penalty of fines or jail time and then they walked it back saying its mandatory but wont be enforced by law enforcement? Confusing

7
Mother_of_gains 7 points ago +7 / -0

Lol. This sounds like Murphy trying to cap the number of people in supermarkets at 50. And everyone just straight up fucking ignored him.

So they quietly dropped that requirement.

Deep down these governors know that if they push to hard on this stuff, their illusion of power will crumble.

DeWine did that in Ohio, tho it may just be an "official recommendation" as opposed to an enforceable order. They have roped-off amusement park-style singlefile entry lanes into Walmart now. DeWine seems to come up with some new fucking gimmick each week along with Abortion Amy Acton.

If people realized that every time they go put in public while sick, they could literally kill someone, maybe they would think twice.

I'm talking about during the regular flu season as well. Everybody that dies from the flu caught the disease form someone.

justwinning 5 points ago +10 / -5

Of course. I'm confident that's how East Asia beat this virus. Westerners have a phobia of masks and are spreading this thing like crazy.

4
Zadok 4 points ago +4 / -0

Just a word of caution. I do not recommend using panty-hose.

4
chinita_atx 4 points ago +5 / -1

Depends.

Going to the grocery, yes.

Walking the trail, no.

4
SoldanoSlo 4 points ago +4 / -0

I frequently use masks for other work related tasks, so now wearing one now to go get groceries isn't that big of a change, other than the weird "am I antifa now?" feeling.

Since I'm high risk for Heart failure I'd have to say yes. But I haven't been near anyone but my hubby for the past 3 or 4 weeks

At some point, when they get back to realty. How are some going to open? Hair salon? Touching all over. Dentist? Massage? Sitting at a bar?

Haven't been out of the house for two weeks. Only plan on leaving the house on Friday to go to GameStop to pick up Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Then home again home again jiggety jig to not go out again for awhile!! Will not be wearing a mask.

2
OhLollyLollyPop 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have some masks on order, but the dempanic will be slacking off by the time they get here.

I have been out of the house twice since early February, to go to the doctor. This is because I am in an age and health risk category, and my family doesn't want me to go anywhere. I have to say, it sucks, because I have my Stinger GT2 wasting away in the garage. 😭 (My last hot car, probably).

2
joliefaire 2 points ago +4 / -2

I have to go into town in a couple days, first time in about 6 weeks. I've decided I'll wear the mask around my neck, make a decision when I go into the store and the pharmacy whether to pull the mask up based on how crowded it is or how vulnerable I feel at that time.

2
Commie_Slayer 2 points ago +2 / -0

What kind of mask? An N95 is 95% effective to 0.3 microns. Covid is smaller than that but can be larger contained in aerosols. A dust mask, or cloth mask doesn't do much good. So, fuck it. No, unless I have symptoms I'm not wearing a mask. I wont screw other people but I'm not going to hyperventilate when I go to 7-Eleven to buy my beer.

2
gicafrate 2 points ago +4 / -2

I’d like to, but I can’t find any. And owning a single mask is useless... you need multiple. Right now you can’t find thermometers let alone n95 masks

2
Harambe 2 points ago +3 / -1

Trump said next two weeks are gonna be the worst, so I'm gonna use some masks when I go out shopping.

2
Gramma53 2 points ago +3 / -1

I wore one today to the store. My husband did not. I thought it was to protect others from the wearer’s sickness, but my kids asked me to. We didn’t get 6 ft within anyone and checked our own groceries.

2
BigCovfefe 2 points ago +2 / -0

In midwest today, big grocery store. Most were wearing masks. It was fucking zombie apocalypse in there. Some woman (no mask) asked me to help her get some raisin bran off the top shelf (seriously) and i was like, omg a normal person.

My neighbor sewed one for me and my husband and put them in our mailbox. It was too hot and made my glasses fog up. I wore gloves when I went out for groceries today and washed when I got home.

vicentezo04 2 points ago +2 / -0

I might wear a scarf sometimes, but not when I'm running. I have a few N95 masks lying around since there was a wildfire recently, but since they're single use I'd much rather save them for woodworking projects.
