My mom's friend in MN was prescribed it at home without even a CV test. She was already short of breath and the doc didn't want to wait for test results. She is fine now.

I used to be the same way. About 8 years ago my mom landed on my doorstep very sick. She had been in the process of moving long-distance and flew to me when she knew she was in trouble. She had gotten a scan in a hospital and the doctor told her she had large tumors in her liver and should go to family. It took me two hours on the phone to get anyone to see her. Appointments were months out. Finally I found a PA who would take her the next day. The PA spent hours on the phone trying to get her biopsied and in all it was 2 weeks between when she arrived and when the oncologist was able to meet with her. All because of the hard work of that PA or it would have been much worse. In those two weeks she went from walking to wheelchair, incontinence and falling out of bed. With the proper diagnosis and prescription she was fully recovered in 2 weeks and the drug worked for over 4 years and she died 5 years after. Without treatment it would have been a month or two at most.
This was when I started to build a relationship with a primary care physician. I realized if anything went wrong I was toast. My husband and I pay for a concierge doctor.
