It's hard to reconcile this steep drop without assuming HCQ has something to do with it.
If this were due only to social distancing it probably would have been a more gradual drop but the fact that they started giving out HCQ last week in NY, and Navarro said yesterday they were giving it to everyone who presented with symptoms, it really does look like it's having an impact.
For herd immunity to play a role, a significant portion of the population would need to have had the disease. It seems very unlikely that more than 1 or 2 percent of the population has had it so far, unless the vast, vast majority of people getting it have no symptoms, but there is no evidence to support that.
Next we hear how Cuomo is the reason for the drop.
With media support, the pandemic is a win/win for the left. If it's devastating, we'll hear how it's Trump's fault. If it's not as bad as predicted, we will hear how the leadership of democrats succeeded in containing it, despite Trump's ineptitude.
They're already positioning Cuomo paradoxically as some sort of heroic leader despite New York being the hardest hit (accounting for nearly half of all infections nation-wide) because of the ineptitude of it's Democrat leadership (like not buying stockpiles of ventilators when they had the opportunity because they'd rather spend the money on defense fees for illegal aliens, or overriding Trump's travel ban to let an infected Iranian patient zero into one of the most densely-packed cities in the country, or advising people to ignore the federal government's "fearmongering" and go party in Chinatown as recently as early March).
And according to Cuomo, not a single person in New York who needed a facemask or a bed or a ventilator has not been able to get one. Yet you'd think untreated patients were dying while gasping for breath in hospital hallways if you listened to the fake news MSM (and their shills among us).

I agree the predictions were way off, but we are talking about real numbers here.
The number of people hospitalized in NY has dropped sharply over the past few days. There has to be a reason for that.
Very unlikely.

I would be more inclined to believe your expert inside knowledge if you knew the proper spelling of "herd".

The IHME exponential growth model was pure crap. It ain’t a “drop”, when the initial projection was over exaggerated.
