If you are former military then you know about the importance of the chain of command. Hell, I've seen people fired in the corporate world for sending out emails bypassing the chain of command. The fact that this particular memo ended up in the hands of the misleadia made his firing necessary. That is an absolutely unacceptable fuck up.
Then how did it get leaked to the misleadia? My understanding is that it was a "blast" memo that went to a lot of people. Even if all of those people were in his direct chain of command, doing shit like that is a bad idea regardless.
He clearly said that before he found out that over 20 people were cc'd. The CO of a carrier does not have 22 people between him and the SECNAV. He'd been on the phone with the SECNAV's Chief of Staff that very afternoon.

Leaking and the leaker needs to be found and kicked out
More likely they'll get a side gig as a CNN correspondent.
Articles yesterday said exactly the opposite.
And were likely wrong, I also heard it went up the chain of command. Someone up the chain did the leaking and needs to be exposed and kicked out

The media is not part of his chain of command.
