I work for a large international mega-corp and we are hiring but the legal department insists on a background check for all new employees or contractors. Well the government is shut down and no longer handling background checks. I found out today that we have one person who already accepted the offer and a second person who will soon get an offer but neither can actually start until the government opens back up.
We need to stop the insanity and open the economy back up. We shut down everything for the few people who will get very sick and die. We ignored any possible solution to minimize both death and economic damage. We need to start thinking about the rest of the people, millions and millions of people.
Need anyone with HR experience with two masters degrees on the subject? My wife was laid off.
I appreciate the thought but I'm just an engineer on a hot project with a growing team. With a 150,000+ employees I am pretty far removed from the situation sadly.
Lol....oracle?
haha no, not Oracle.
.. another possibility: your company could adapt to the current circumstances and change their policies according. If I can be told to sit at home, and not even do as much as go play poker with my friends, I think your company can find a way to hire people without immediate government background checks.
Companies that adapt thrive. Companies set in their ways slowly, but surely, die.
