I'm gonna go ahead and not trust anything 'dr' oz says, even if it supports my biases. Way too many bad calls from that guy

vicentezo04 19 points ago +20 / -1

If Dr. Oz "prescribed" hydroxychloroquine, it'd probably be a vial of water with the "essence" of HCQ.

DarkMemeDuck 11 points ago +12 / -1

I'm more of a Dr Berg fan, but yeah, I agree. Oz is not a good guy.

Work2gethrBiglyOrDie 4 points ago +5 / -1

Source? Oz seems to have a few enemies in common with Trump.

He supported homeopathy. which is the science, and I use that term lightly, of diluting a substance to make it more powerful. Basically it's bad science masquerading as bad medicine and this man was a spokesman for it.

There were other magical cures, but that was the big one for me

So like how they cured peanut allergies.

Porque no los dos?

4
muslimporn 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm not sure that I care.

If he's raising the point to look at people already on the drug we should.

Hydroxychloroquine isn't homeopathy so why care about the effectiveness of that?

A better question is whats the rate of infection and complications per 10000 plus for those with autoimmune issues like those. Also is the data right.

Agreed

It is literally water. The only thing it does for you is the placebo effect.

The reason homeopathy made a comeback is because people will pay a ton for alternative medicine and selling water at a massive markup is highly profitable.

Blood letting is very old too.

https://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/doctors-dr-oz-removed-columbia-faculty-article-1.2187815

He's been called out for a long time, and with good reason.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2014/06/17/dr-oz-senate-panel-weight-scams/10701067/

Lawmakers at Tuesday's hearing specifically took aim at Oz's promotion of Pure Green Coffee beans, which claims to help users lose 20 pounds in four weeks and 16 percent of body fat in three months. The FTC sued the product's Florida-based makers in May.

Anybody who claims anything other than diet, exercise, or meth can trim fat that quickly is very likely full of shit.

He seriously thinks water with microscopic levels of other elements (homeopathy) is an effective medical treatment. That alone should discredit anybody.

Thanks from the first link I can see why he was character assassinated, wanting GMO food labeled so consumers can choose. That combined with his warnings about certain pesticides leads to extremely powerful well connected enemies. Complicated business, but not many will look into it.

1
vicentezo04 1 point ago +2 / -1

This is like arguing that Trump is racist because he constantly attacks people (AOC, Bernie, etc.) that advocate for minorities.

Dr. Oz has said a lot of true things (he was a respected surgeon at one point), but he's said a lot of stupid irredeemable shit too.

He was on Humanity's radio show today. A big data firm mined several million medical records. To date they have not found a single Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis patient taking CQ having gotten Covid... I do not have a source handy... was listening live

  • "A big data firm mined several million medical records"
  • "To date they have not found a single Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis patient taking CQ having gotten Covid."

I don't see how they could legally mine data for a diagnosis

1
Ricky_CIA 1 point ago +1 / -0

Those diseases (lupus and rheumatoid arthritis) are due to an overactive immune system attacking its own body, it could be simply that COVID gets shredded like a toddler wandering into a south side Chicago shootout.

Still absolutely worth further research.

lo_there 10 points ago +10 / -0

I mean people with Lupus are probably winning the social distancing medals for avoidance at this point. I think the data coming out of literally every fucking country that has used it speaks much more to its efficacy.

The most important point...does everyone know why Coronavirus numbers are almost negligible in Indina/Sri Lanka??

Becuase Malaria is a huge problem in Indian, and Indians have been getting HCQ for almost 50 years.

Thus this virus cant bind with their cells.

There is the proof.

Sample size of 1.2B.

I quit watching Dr. Oz after he showed how to brush teeth by adding strawberries to baking soda. Strawberries have sugar in it. I don't think that would be good for your teeth. (Maybe it's not pure cane sugar, but what do I know. It just seemed silly).

But......

If he's going to promote something that will save lives at this point, I'm all for him getting the message out. And thankful that he is.

1
FriendofTRUMP 1 point ago +1 / -0

He has ethics problems. He sucks globalists' dicks. China is asshole.

4
wakadon 4 points ago +4 / -0

this is the one piece of data the media overlooked until now. What about the people who are already taking Trump pills in the US and Africa? Might see a media report on it once they finish checking every mutual fund that Trump owns looking for a new scandal they can invent.

Interesting. I was not aware that there were enough Lupus sufferers for a study this large.

Funny you mention that, because Trump and the FDA announced several weeks back that during the crisis they would not be enforcing the HIPAA penalties. It was just too risky to NOT ask people if they had symptoms or knew they had the virus.

1
WinstonSmith1984 1 point ago +1 / -0

There are a LOT of parts of HIPAA. I don't think they released the part about private companies a=having access to private medical data.

Of course, HIPAA explicitly gives access to any individual medical record to any law enforcement at any level for any reason when they ask for it.

1
DisgustedByMisleadia 1 point ago +1 / -0

I was referring to the data-mining of medical records, as someone else posted.

But perhaps HIPPA allows this, as long as the identifying information is removed. But, geographic information may have to be filtered, too -- depending on the resolution.

According to Dr. Doom Fauci that's just anecdotal evidence.

2
YugeBallsBelieveMe 2 points ago +2 / -0

Probably the same reason this ain’t bad in the tropics

4
DisgustedByMisleadia 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think temperature/humidity may be the primary factor in the tropics.

It will be interesting to see how things change in the US as we get warmer.

It probably is higher. You may be able to find current pollen counts and historical ones in your area. A specific pollen may be the cause. Sometimes, the weather can conspire to make everything pollinate at the same time.

There are OTC drugs that are very effective. Ask your doctor for some recommendations.

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
2
DisgustedByMisleadia 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sudafed is a decongestant, without the antihistamine. Zyrtec is just an antihistamine, although I think they also sell one that includes the same decongestant as Sudafed.

Prescription-strength decongestants are normally just a higher dose that what is recommended on the OTC package. You can do the math and figure it out. But, don't do it for long term without a doctor's recommendation, as you might have a contraindication and not realize it.

DixieConstruct 1 point ago +3 / -2

I'm as much on the Trump train as anyone but using a group size of 10k in a global pandemic where the official number of infected is around 1.5 million out of 10 Billion is a terrible argument. Sure it might be true but the sample size is so small as to make the argument laughable, it's a number that sounds big to people with no fucking clue about statistics.

Tests and actual treatment show the effectiveness of HCQ and the lupus patients did give an early indicator that some information were to be gleaned from them not getting infected in hospitals shared with patients who had the yellow fever. But a group size of 10k does not.

2
TrumpTrainBot 2 points ago +2 / -0

WE JUST CAN'T STOP WINNING, FOLKS! THE TRUMP TRAIN JUST GOT 10 BILLION MPH FASTER!

CURRENT SPEED: 359,019,385,117,000 MPH!

At that rate, it would take approximately 4.674 years to travel to the Andromeda Galaxy (2.5 million light-years)!

1
Throwawaycuzmeh 1 point ago +2 / -1

This is a fucking retarded post. Ten thousand people is not a small sample size.

1
muslimporn 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's relative. It might be relevant if the infection rate is much higher than 1 in 10000.

Since there's 330,557,000 people in the US and 401,636 of them are reported to have coronavirus, that means that 0.12% of people the US population has coronavirus and out of the 10,000 lupusites Dr. Oz thinks are in the US, statistically 12 should have been reported to have coronavirus.
