H-1B visas should be non-existent.

How many Americans are looking for work in tech while paying off college loans?

Fuck foreigners who claim that they will do the job for less - and fuck the Bill Gates assholes who hire those lowballers .. make all those leeches justify total employment cost after all the fixes and rework their shit performance requires.

Thank God people here are back to hating labor immigration. So many times I've argued with people about the "well they pay taxes and we need their skills!!!" like shut the fuck up you traitor.

BoughtByBloomberg 46 points ago +55 / -9

No there is a difference. Between immigrant labor and immigrants who get a job.

Immigration, whilst undesirable, is legal and once a person is a citizen, they are a citizen. It is how many became citizens in the past and how many will become citizens in the future, though it should be SEVERELY limited to merit based immigration only. People here have always been welcoming of this type.

Labor migrants are not here to become citizens. They are outsourcing scabs in essence. Instead of the job being outsourced by the company they just hire people to come over and take the job for half the pay. So in the end it is still outsourcing the job, only now you add the risk of anchor babies popping out during the visa stay. These have always been derided.

At this point in history, I'm not aware of any immigration that benefits Americans. Shut it all down.

Depends, for example looking at the EU there is a net positive contribution for inter EU migrants and a net deficit from outside EU migrants. IE third world leeches.

If migration was slimmed down to just high skill labor you'd see the same benefit as before. With many laborers flooding in ready to take up the current jobs being whored out by companies to third world migrant labor.

That said I'm fine with 0 migration too. Stay where you are. Fix your country first before you start fleeing.

8
Southern_Belle 8 points ago +9 / -1

Part of the problem is the companies abusing the system.

We can't trust that they'll bring over only those they absolutely need because the skills aren't available.

They cheat and lie.

Best to shut the whole thing down until we fix the loopholes and punish the abusers.

Then we can reconsider.

Same with immigration in general.

8
2Scoops2Terms2Walls 8 points ago +8 / -0

I get what you mean but I don't care what's legal, I care what should be legal. Immigration should be less than 10% what it is if we should even have it at all. The distinction between these two I do not believe is as large as is being claimed. I'd much rather migrants don't become citizens (so they aren't permanent) rather than most of the ones who put down roots at cost to natives.

1
americathegr888 1 point ago +3 / -2

I agree. Under normal conditions, there should be a pathway for a limited number of well-qualified foreign professionals. However, right now we are experiencing a backlash against rampant globalism and mass-immigration, which has eroded cultural institutions throughout the Western world. Until that is addressed, there will be an overcorrection towards protectionism.

2
americathegr888 2 points ago +4 / -2

But now I’m starting to see that people here are against all non-Americans

As they should be. Just setting foot here doesn't make you an American, nor does getting a piece of government paper. Legal immigrants vote at 90% rates for communism.

What are the implications then of rejecting someone born in America to a family without these values?

We get to keep these values instead of turning into North Korea. Sometimes doing what is necessary is harder than doing what is right or by the book.

And by the letter of the original Constitution, not the bastardized broken version we have now, nothing I'm saying is even remotely radical.

Cause these people are completely hung up on the whole "80% of immigrants vote Democrat" and never ask WHY they do. It's hilarious really. Seeing people on here grumble like a Beta Bernie supporter about why the blacks won't vote for Bernie.

The right lost that demographic ages ago. Completely made no attempt to win it back to the point where the media is literally writing articles about how it's so weird that Trump is trying to win them over. Clinton passed laws to jail as many blacks as possible and they still didn't switch over! Why? Cause the messaging from Republicans is just THAT bad!

These demographics people are a special breed. They recognize a problem. Immigrants vote Democrat. Then they resign themselves to that statistical fact and completely ignore that this means 1/4 Asians and Hispanics are voting for Republicans. They never ask, how do we get that to 2/4? Can we achieve a flip of 3/4 in our favor?

Instead they just go "Fuck em!" and the Democrats to a little happy dance cause they can point to em and say "See? That's why you should vote for us!"

Imagine if Republicans got behind the whole affirmative action in colleges thing? Asians hate it. They could win so many votes going after it! But what are the Republican priorities?

Passing an amendment to include reimplanting ectopic pregancies in a bill in Ohio. A currently medically IMPOSSIBLE procedure.

Because hey why try to court new voters when you can just hope you can cling to power for a few more years until demographics take over and completely push you out by 2050.

Clinton deported Cubans with a PASSION! Because Cubans like whites are 50/50 split. Blacks used to be 50/50 split too. Same with Asians back in 2000. But then the evangelism just kept on going within the Repub party.

Thank god, ironically, that Trump recognized that is a losing message and instead focused on freedom of religion and the economic struggles.

NO_RINOs 8 points ago +8 / -0

Actually H-1B's don't have to pay social security or medicare taxes for the first few years while they are here because their visas are "guest worker visas".

That means companies actually save ~15% on their salaries compared to paying an American or green card holder.

EDIT: I meant workers on the Optional practical training (OPT), not H-1B

Most who jerk off to legal immigration don't care, they just want to be able to say "look I'm not racist, I love legal immigration and want as much as possible!"

2
NO_RINOs 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm looking at things from an economic perspective. More workers migrating to the US means suppressed wages for American workers, higher real estate prices and rent as more people compete for housing. Not to mention the environmental damage caused by overpopulation. The globalists love their ponzi demography

1
2Scoops2Terms2Walls 1 point ago +1 / -0

It makes zero sense from the perspective of wanting to help average people. Our GDP goes up, cool, but that only helps corporations and the government. We lose out in several ways even ignoring every other non-economic argument.

2
NO_RINOs 2 points ago +2 / -0

Be wary of the swan song of "higher GDP is good" or "go out and shop" like Dubya said. You hear those things from the lamestream media all the time and they never explain why spending money unnecessarily is good. This simpsons' clip makes fun of that pretty well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66ytbpO065o&feature=youtu.be&t=54

GDP will always keep going up in the US because it's measures the DOLLAR amount of goods produced in the US. The Federal Reserve prints more dollars out of thin air every year. Obama could say the economy was improving under him even though nothing much was improving.

Corporations shouldn't decide which foreigners get to come here. The American people should. Michelle Malkin put out a copy of her H-1B investigative piece recently. Worth watching.

Good catch...

I meant workers in OPT program. A lot of foreign graduates of US universities who remain in the country work through OPT until they are awarded an H-1B visa in the lottery. Otherwise they’d need to get an H-1B visa with an employer around graduation time to remain in-status.

OPT exists so people like Bill Gates can employ more foreign workers until they are officially in the H-1B program. It’s wage suppression via an oversupply of labor.

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
1
NO_RINOs 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think OPT should be scrapped entirely. It’s a back-door program to bring in more H-1B workers and suppress wages via an oversupply of labors.

Didn’t answer one of your other questions you posed about hiring the best candidate for a job in the US.

The American candidate has lived their whole life in the US and has nowhere else to go and never planned to. An Indian candidate is coming all the way here for the job. They shouldn’t have any expectation of going somewhere else and being given a job over a native. If Indians are smarter they can always found their own businesses back home and beat their American competitors.

Would Indians be happy with all their best jobs going to guest workers from Nepal? Everyone is selfish and looking out for themselves. Instead of fighting over breadcrumbs, let’s ask why we are in the current situation.

The powers that be who control the US government bomb any upstart countries and foment revolutions elsewhere. War prevents people from focusing on economic development. The smartest are drained from their homelands to come here. This will not work in the long-run. It doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game.

My company got a bunch of temporary IT workers from India and they were awful. A bunch of people who would nod and say "Ok, Ok." then have no idea what they were doing but were too meek to ask for clarification. I suspect all of their skills were just memorizing what people told them as their critical thinking skills were nonexistent.

Interestingly enough the two or three who were decent at their jobs (out of about 20) were the Christian ones. I don't know if there was a correlation or if it was coincidence.

The one weird side was how materialistic they were. After work got out for the day the whole of them took a taxi or hitched a ride with some regular employees and went to the mall buying every branded and gaudy item they could find (watches, sneakers, clothes etc.) They were like kids let loose in a toy store.

2

I'm not in tech but I have heard from an engineering friend that the Chinese H-1B Visa guys are the least impressive. He said most of them are pretty terrible and they have negative social skills. He said the Indian ones were generally okay.

The chinese work together to cheat their way through colleges. Then they graduate and know nothing and only know how to speak chinese to their friends.

5
NO_RINOs 5 points ago +5 / -0

The Indians and Chinese who attend undergrad or graduate school in the US are generally better educated than the ones from straight from India or China.

That being said, if you bring over any Indians or Chinese to study here, then hire them on OPT or H-1B visas, you're inevitably going to see an American not be hired in favor of one of them.

I was employed in the tech sector as a Service Engineer. I was laid off three times in the last 6 years by replacement h1b. Eventually the replacements were replaced, because they were so bad. Happens almost each and every time they do.

I finally found a place to work again, but in 2016 I said something defending trump off hand at work. Suddenly was on the next round of layoffs during regorg. Our team was replaced by Hyderabad, and my company couldn't find a place for me. I should of taken the hint, when during a company meeting, they felt it was ok to call Trump supporters names etc.

I was once a pre-med student. I probably would have made a great doctor but I was not a great student at the time. However, I met a lot of fantastic students who would have made great doctors. Quite a few of them never made it into medical school because it is very competitive and there are limited seats. If we have a doctor shortage in the USA, we should be building medical schools and educating these great people who were on the bubble. Instead, we just issue H1Bs and import foreign educated doctors so we can get them cheap. It's criminal.

4
TheInky 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm not an advocate for bigger government, but my local trade school's medical assistant program limits the number of students who can enter in order to keep the demand for their services up.

1
FakeNametag 1 point ago +1 / -0

I understand the reason for the limits. But when we needed more doctors, we imported them instead of training them. There are a lot of intelligent people right here in the USA who could have filled those jobs if they had a seat in a medical school. But I agree by all means not to have unlimited enrollment in medical school.

4
AlohaChris 4 points ago +4 / -0

The AMA (Doctors) limit those seats in medical schools drastically. It’s to keep their salaries in the mid $300,000’s. The AMA lobbies hard to keep foreign physicians out. Imagine if tech workers did the same thing.

2
FakeNametag 2 points ago +2 / -0

As a tech worker, I would love it if they did. While I have had a pretty solid career, there are areas of tech I would love to have switched to except they've been flooded out by cheap labor.

On the issue of doctors, I believe the scam there is they bring in the foreign doctors on H1Bs since there is supposedly a shortage of people willing to provide services to rural areas. It's another version of "jobs Americans won't do". Many of them end up in the city once they're done pretending they were willing to do the rural work.

My own primary care physician came in on H1B. He was supposed to work in a small town doing rural care but the person/group who sponsored him exploited him and forced him to work in the city where they could bill at a higher rate, then they were not paying him. He had to sue them to stop the fraud.

I believe many American students would take the rural jobs if they could get into medical school. Perhaps an ROTC-like rotation would work there: we pay your tuition and you have to give us x number of years in a rural location or forfeit your license to practice.

23
SlickMahony 23 points ago +23 / -0

It's a two pronged problem: there's the fact that as a young software engineer you no longer just compete domestically, but globally, and then there's the age issue. Many older engineers get let go/get forced into early retirement because companies want cheaper labor, and a 20 year old Indian with a degree mill diploma is cheaper than a 50yo experienced engineer. If youre not cut out for management or you don't want to manage and just want to be technical you're kind of in trouble starting age 30 because aside from large companies the technical track ends pretty early.

I laugh when I hear the Bill Gayes of the world say they can't find enough workers; there's a fair few, actually, you just don't want to pay for them.

14
so_nimble 14 points ago +14 / -0

Degree mill is very important to understand as you say. These are not apples to apples cheaper versions of US workers. Many of their degrees are fake/dubious origin or require much less time to get. The quality of work they perform is generally very low energy and because they must have a job to remain it’s basically slave labor. They won’t quit and work for much less.

The sheer guff I get from these people when I ask them to repeat something is incredible, they treat me like I'm the stupid one for not being able to make out more than 1 word in 5 over the phone.

And then you try and explain even a moderately sophisticated technical solution and it's crickets and question marks because if it isn't iterative, inefficient garbage they can't understand it.

I need to find a new job lol

Now go for the nuts. Revoke Chinese nationals’ visas from universities. Allow Taiwanese students to stay for extra spice.

ViaAlpina 4 points ago +4 / -0

Or just give all those spots to actual Americans.

NPC1234567 1 point ago +1 / -0

A big problem is a lot of those students hold a US passport because their other country recognizes dual citizenship even those the USA doesn't. If the USA would say "if you hold another passport, you are not a US citizen" that would clear up a lot of this.

Remember, unemployment only includes people actively searching for a job.

No foreign workers until unemployment is <0.1%

ViaAlpina 7 points ago +7 / -0

No foreign labor period. Tight labor markets are the only thing that push up wages.

Hopefully he was getting yelled at by the immigration-reduction advocates who helped get him elected in 2016 for being a foreign-worker visa shill.

17
utfanx2 17 points ago +17 / -0

Tech companies cannot afford to hire Americans. There is a 35% chance the worker will be based, and blow the whistle on their treason. Visa workers must maintain their position to remain in the country, and will not risk losing their job by speaking out.

I'll take what silver linings I can out of this mess - this is a huge one!

thisisatestof2 15 points ago +15 / -0

The H-1B visa program need to be killed off and redone under very different rules. I know of one company that fired piratically everyone in the IT Dept and replaced them with H1-B workers.

I made the news that once the notice was given to the American workers the like the hall outside their offices/cubes with little American flags. Slowly the flags came down as they were replaced.

If necessary, the visa program should be to allow people in for no more than 6 months and they must demonstrate they are training American workers on whatever project they are working on.

14
DivineLordTrump 14 points ago +14 / -0

I heard 85% H1Bs are given to Indians abusing 1 year Masters’ program. They need to PAY MORE.

1
NO_RINOs 1 point ago +1 / -0

Employers don't have to prove they couldn't have hired an American IF they pay at least $60,000. What a joke!

It should be at least $100,000, if the foreign is THAT good.

Takes a pandemic to stop the flood of immigrants. We gotta keep it at 0 for as long as we can.

Good. With this much unemployment, let's send the rest home, too.

Having to work with some of these incompetent h1-b contractors in any tech field is an absolute dumpster fire. Hire Americans that are more than qualified. Instead management wants muh cheap foreign labor and muh diversity hires.

NO_RINOs 1 point ago +1 / -0

CFOs always love to show how they can save a few million per year by hiring unqualified Indians for IT jobs.

No one counters that the company will lose millions more in the long-run after hiring someone else to fix the mistakes the Indians make and refuse to take the blame for. Like Boeing hiring Indians overseas at $8/hour to design flight control system software, LOL

daomino 11 points ago +11 / -0

Considering the current high unemployment, this is a very good move. The government should put its citizens first, every government.

10
magnokor 10 points ago +10 / -0

H-1B people are a UN-approved army moving into the USA and killing the local population.

When there is 0 unemployment, when there is 0 debt, only then should Third Worlders be considered for importation, and that idea should still be shut down.

If you don't think they are "killing the local population," what do you think happens to the citizens when they are forced out of their jobs, and after that are forced out of their house?

Boycott all those linked to China, of course, but also boycott any companies that fire the local citizens, or refuse to hire them, and then import a low-quality Third Worlder to replace them.

NO_RINOs 2 points ago +2 / -0

The UN is actively plotting to bring migrants into the USA, Europe, Russia and Japan to replace people because of muh ponzi demography.

America should not let any non-european immigrants in for the next 50 years. We have our fill of every other type of immigrant. When in history did any Nation ever allow its demographic balance to be thrown out of whack due simply to immigration? Throughout history, this usually required an invasion.

Make the 1924 Immigration Act a thing again?

But that’s NOT how it works. Companies vie for a slice of the total number of imported H1-B visa holders.

Now that a fifth of the country is out of work, do you think we finally have a good argument for not needing foreign workers? I doubt it.

Coming from a New Yorker who moved to Texas to be with Texans but all I get is foreigners.

Thank you so much.

Better late than never, now get rid of the H-1B all together. I used to work in Irvine CA, the entire, and I mean entire complex was staffed with H-1B workers. These people had ZERO interest or desire to assimilate, speak English, learn our ways, or be meaningful Americans. Don't do business with American companies that hire these people.

Oh and the high rise apartments we had inside the large business complex? I'd literally see a new Chinese family every couple of days walking around, guess what the woman was ALWAYS pregnant... If any Cali pedes are seeing this, it was the Park Place property in Irvine CA, see it for yourself.

Hopefully, fucking hopefully this finally wakes people up and makes them realize we need to start hiring / building / producing shit IN AMERICA. Fuck the rest of the world, we don't owe them a damn thing, just as they don't owe us jack.

Don't get too excited, they just can't process the paper work right now. They shut down passport services too, so you can't leave if you don't already have one either, and you won't be able to leave for quite some time when they open back up.

It’s not just H1B, it’s also other Visas like the E-3 which is only available to Australians.

I moved to the US on that after a US company purchased the Australian company I was working for. They then had to prove that the role wasn’t able to be filled by an American and that my salary was above market rate. Thousands of Australians have gone home in the last month because of this and their inability to renew their visa.

My knowledge of international markets is generating a lot of money for a US org allowing them to hire more Americans and grow faster

I am an Indian immigrant ( legal and been a citizen for almost 2 decades) and I approve this message.

One day I will write a post on why letting Indians (uncontrolled) into US is such a bad thing.

Unfortunately, it's only the premium processing that's been suspended. This is almost nothing. The quota (85K/year?) has been filled on April 1st as usual, like nothing happened.

Stop manufacturing outsourcing to China and importing H1-B foreign workers from India. There has been a relentless massive job give-aways to foreigners who never pay a penny in taxes. How long should it go on?
