Suicide is a choice. Just like deaths from over dose and any other disease where your poor life decisions leads you to a quicker end of life.
This virus is like Russian roulette. In some cases you can be hale and hearty, and it can take you out. That's a serious threat. And other than hiding from it, your choice is taken out of the equation.
Choose or not, it happens and will happen as a result of this. And not just suicide, we're talking depression, anxiety and mental anguish, people having phobia complexes, kids possibly being scarred for some time. And as far as getting this virus as a healthy, non-geriatric... It will almost certainly not kill you. You will most likely not even need medical attention. So, yeah. It's not like Russian roulette in any sort real way.
I'm following my President's advice. When it's all over and we have all the numbers and results, you may be right. And you can point to this comment and say, "I told you" . But until then, I'm sticking with Trump.
And that’s fine if that’s your choice to stay home but the government closed my business and put me out of work and I have no source of income now so I’m pretty pissed off. We should of had the choice to stay home not being forced into it.
No, each governor is left to make that decision. Don't blame the president. We do need to open things up again and soon. We can't destroy our economy and the lives of tens of millions of workers and the small business owners because of a virus.
You understand that there are no guarantees in life right? Playing Russian roulette means you are doing something where there is a high probability of something bad happening. You know, like playing a game where there's a 50 percent chance you will die. You don't understand the phase, and you should think about stop using it.
I was thinking of the style of play where you sit down with someone else and play until someone takes one to the noodle. Yes, I understand the odds of each trigger pull.
Your metaphor is going to happen anyway (And it did happen last year during the flu season). This shutdown is simply delaying it. Unless you want to wait a year and a half to two years in your house until they get a vaccine ready, which will completely tank the financial system beyond repair, among many other terrible things, and probably bring western civilisation to it's knees. Then you can really play it safe, right?
And not just suicide, we're talking depression, anxiety and mental anguish, people having phobia complexes, kids possibly being scarred for some time.
That's all weakness, sorry. There's a huge difference between being clinically depressed in the best of times and being sad because you lost your job and don't have any savings to survive for 8 weeks. Sounds cold but this is a good wake up call for many, should they choose to wake up.
Sorry, but weakness is a part of the human condition that you have to account for. This is going to really impact millions of people's psyches, and you can say everyone should be as strong minded as you, but that ain't the way it is.
I just joined this website. Thank fucking God I have a community of people that share this same view. Isn't weird we got banned on reddit right before this shut down happened?
I was going crazy without you guys. I'm in Chicago and there are retards every where that buy into this. Apparently I'm the crazy one for wanting to take my daughter to the park.
You're not crazy. Millions of us are ready to end the power grab by the medical academicians who seem to see the country as a giant petri dish. People need to get back to work. Protect those who are elderly and/or have major health problems. Let the rest of us resume normal life.
Our president also said the cure can't be worse than the disease. When people are losing their life savings by having their businesses forcibly closed and millions are losing their jobs because they're not allowed to go to work, the cure is worse. When people are pushed into depression because of these things and isolated at home from family and friends so they might commit suicide, that's worse than the virus.
I didnt realize hillary was in Tennessee last week. I lernt.
Predicted this and posted this meme 3 weeks back...

As long as the Corpse tests positive for COVID-19 it still counts as a virus death to the CDC and the Government Projections.

I know a half dozen liberals that would consider this good news.
My sister in law (Tennessean here) took her life because of the economic downturn.
Sticky.
I don't get this talking point.
Suicide is a choice. Just like deaths from over dose and any other disease where your poor life decisions leads you to a quicker end of life.

Do we understand that difference?

"almost certainly not" "Most likely not"
Yeah not Russian roulette at all

Your President asked them to. Deal with it. We all are.

Russian roulette is 1 in 6. So 83% survival.
But let's use another metaphor. Here's 4k M&M's, one will kill you. Now hand them out to your friends, neighbors, kids, parents.
No thanks man. I'll chill for now like my President wants.

So you are saying the government is the right by enslaving us to keep us safe by destroying the economy?

I'm saying the number of suicides is irrelevant. It's a straw man argument.
You want to argue about governor's going overboard, have at it. With facts.
But my president asked me to chill at home for awhile, and he's earned my trust and respect.
