this. did you have net payout in taxes the previous year? you can vote this year.
i'm ok letting active/retired military vote as well.
maybe an all out ban for anyone involved in academia or journalism.
Wtf. No. What you are describing is actual voter suppression, not the horseshit Democrats talk about. Let's lighten up on the leftist ban this ban that bullshit.
The skin in the game is citizenship of the United States of America.
Edit to add: If you think putting conditions upon votership is a good thing, think again. What happens if the people we oppose gain power again? You think that wouldn't be used against you? Think about who would be arbiters of this decision. Wake up.
P.S. What you are describing is oligarchy. No room for that bullshit in a Constitutional Republic.
Maybe, but in a post-agrarian society I'm not sure that would work that well.
I think the best place to start is by only allowing people who don't take money from the government to vote.
I'd honestly settle for American citizens only at this point. Our voting system is so fucked.
Yeah. Like how about that Voter ID?
Some verification that the person is a citizen. Either passport, citizenship card, or Birth certificate with photo-ID
Everyone takes money from the government either directly or indirectly.
I say both. Land ownership eliminates the citizenship issue and worked for most of our country’s history.
Government workers definitely should not have a vote.
So then the military doesn't get to vote?
Service guarantees citizenship.

Disagree. Have SOME sort of skin in the game. (TBF, my "maybe an all out ban for anyone involved in academia or journalism" was humor, tho. maybe.)
