What was dumb about it. Asking the President to take a look at possible wrong conviction. Dear God I would sure hope someone would ask that question for me if I thought I was wrongly convicted.

It wasn’t a wrongful conviction, the idiot tried to hire an undercover FBI agent. He incriminated the shit out of himself in his own words.

Besides, he’s a mulleted jackass who thinks big cats are pets or toys. You don’t have to be a tree hugger or a bitchy vegan to know it’s fucked up to keep Earth’s apex land predators in tiny habitats in shitty, non-accredited “zoos” run by legendary retards.

The flip side of that argument is pretending that the species is going to survive in the wild and that most human beings would never get to see one of these animals in their entire lifetimes if they weren’t in zoos. The quality of the zoo and the treatment of the animals is a separate issue. No one is arguing that Joe (and everyone else in the doc) isn’t a narcissistic hillbilly. Call me crazy, but i want my kids to be able to see a tiger if they want to. Let’s not pretend that the species would be anything but extinct without human intervention- there is no such thing as “the wild” anymore sans a very select few places. People like Joe should not have tigers, but i wouldn’t go as far as to say that private zoos shouldn’t exist either. If you are in the camp that there should be no tigers in America, we just don’t agree and i’m very educated, so you can’t just dismiss me by calling me names and shutting down all debate.

Tigers can exist in the "wild". The wild for them at this point is wild life reserves such as the Satpura tiger reserve in India. Large swaths of land specifically protected for tigers (much like wolves in Yellowstone) is how the species can carry on in modern times. I agree that zoos create great learning environments for children and adults for that matter to see tigers but I am conflicted because often the enclosures are extremely small..

Let's genocide all the humans to make more living space for tigers. Covid is just a big cat rescue programme

For real. Just look at Pandas.

A fucking 100% useless species that could disappear from the planet forever and it would have zero impact on any ecosystem. A shit-tier evolutionary dead-end.

But just showing cuddly panda bears has convinced people to throw millions of dollars trying to save that degenerate species that can't even mate to save itself.

Pandas are the Joe Biden of the animal kingdom, but way less creepy.

First of all, I’m not the one acting like a vaginal liberal and downvoting dissenting opinions into oblivion. That’s the people on this site who apparently love Joe Exotic. They can’t call themselves conservatives and cry about being banned from reddit when they do the same shit here.

So don’t lecture me as if I’m shutting down debate, because I’m not. I’m dismayed to see idiots here behaving in precisely the same way liberals do.

Secondly, who told you that keeping tigers in backyards and in unaccredited zoos is a way to save the species?

And where did you get the impression that tigers are not going to survive “in the wild”?

The reason tigers are going extinct is:

  1. Chinese cunts who have an insatiable appetite for tiger parts for traditional Chinese “medicine,” which creates an incredibly lucrative market for poachers.
  2. Habitat destruction by humans.

Go look up any example of iconic megafauna: Orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, elephants...they are all on the verge of extinction.

Every single one of them. We have killed off more than 2/3 of all wildlife on the planet.

Not because they can’t exist in the wild, but because of us. That is emphatically not the normal course of extinction.

Now people will say “Animals go extinct all the time and the Earth goes on.”

Yes. But that doesn’t mean humanity will survive a barren planet without any other life except for a handful of domesticated animals. We are going to assfuck ourselves with the removal of keystone species and the resulting cascade failure.

As for this idea that keeping tigers in backyards and zoos is a way to save the population, not a single expert or conservationist would ever agree with that notion. I don’t know where you got that idea, but it’s simply not true. These are animals that range up to 50 miles a day in the wild and are susceptible to extreme zoochosis in captivity.

That means they go crazy in confinement.

If the only tigers left in the world are tigers in backyards and shitty zoos, after a few generations they’re not going to be tigers anymore, they’ll be shadows of what they once were, marking the beginning of a gradual but inexorable change if they manage to survive.

The only way to guarantee the survival of the species is by marking off large preserves and making sure there’s enough money to properly defend the preserves from poachers. Because I guarantee you, as long as there are Chinese people on this earth, animals like tigers will be in danger.
