Tigers can exist in the "wild". The wild for them at this point is wild life reserves such as the Satpura tiger reserve in India. Large swaths of land specifically protected for tigers (much like wolves in Yellowstone) is how the species can carry on in modern times. I agree that zoos create great learning environments for children and adults for that matter to see tigers but I am conflicted because often the enclosures are extremely small..

I mean, if we want to apply Vulcan logic here, you really could just erase all humans that live south of the Tropic of Cancer, and probably nothing of value would be lost.
