I think with absentee they request it and there is a process. With all mail-in they just mail out to registered voters. As we know, there are many many voters on that list that are no longer alive, no longer living in the area, etc. It is an easy way to cheat, for sure.

Depending on the state, you either check a box next to one of the allowed reasons (work requires you to be away from the district, medical issues/disability, etc), or write in a couple of words to the same effect, or just sign at the bottom to attest that one of the listed reasons applies to you. Do you seriously think anyone is checking? It's not like you have to give your employer's or your doctor's contact info (HIPAA would prevent your doctor form saying anything anyway).
It's not like any city/county election office has the staff to go checking up on this. Even if they had the staff to make a quick phone call on a random sample of absentee requests, they certainly wouldn't be able to verify any information they got. What employer is going to say "no" if some election staffer calls asking if Joe Schmoe's work responsibilities will keep him from getting to his home precinct during voting hours on Election Day?

There is no control over whether the people getting either kind of ballot really exist, or ever existed, or still have the mental capacity to know there's an election going on, or are being coerced or paid to fill out the ballot the way someone else directs them. There are nursing home workers filling out ballots for patients with advanced dementia and residential psych facility workers filling out ballots for people who have no idea that the voices telling them what to do aren't real.
If people can't get to a voting location, they don't need to vote (other than US government and military personnel stationed overseas, but really most of those could vote in-person if polling places were set up at embassies and on military bases). For every person who legitimately votes absentee, a lot more fraudulent absentee votes are cast and counted, neutralizing legitimate absentee and in-person votes.
What would really help would be to make it possible to vote in person at any polling place, instead of having to go to a specifc one. We also need to completely separate elections for federal office (POTUS, VP, House, and Senate) from elections for state and local office. No state should be in a position to implement its own election laws and have those state laws potentially affect the outcome of elections for federal offices.

Not all states require notarization. In my state, the person has to request it, with a signature. And sign an affidavit envelope in which the completed ballot is placed. Then placed within a mailing envelope. None of them are opened until Election Day and only verifying that person has not yet voted.
Oklahoma here. We don't have a seperate voter id, but we have to show a valid driver's license or equivalent to vote in person. Same id reqs when I've voted absentee in 2016/2018, plus I had to get it notarized both times.
I'll never forget voting for Trump via absentee in 2016. I was beaming while the notary stamped everything.

Our voter ID is any government issued ID with a photo. Drivers license, passport, state college IDs, and some larger private colleges (Dartmouth comes to mind).

A National check of mail in ballots ALL FROM THE SAME RESIDENCE - would do A LOT to eradicate some fraud. They have "drop houses" at which 10 or 15 mail in ballots get delivered. Real address, fake residents.

U.S MP's will be lockbox keepers. These jobs can be given to active personnel or retired veterans. At least 3 M.P's per polling station with special compensation from the federal government for service (1000-2000 paid every 2-4 years for doing this duty).
Live counting and I do mean live.... Cameras with control as the information is fed through. Any type of system hiccup will trigger an automatic recount. The MP's during the counting will stand there and certify under perjury that all ballots are counted.
90 day voter roll purging, 30 days on election year. On off years, the states are mandated to purge the voter rolls every 90 days. Voters will get a re-new card in the mail to update all information and it must be sent back. Either hit the check that says everything is correct or update your information. Just drop it off at your Local Post office or DMV. If done digitally a scan .pdf must be included as well.

I wish Voter Fraud got taken as seriously as audited financial statements. The standard for that is quite a low barrier:

How? Both are mailed. I'm not tracking this one - and we do mail-ins and absentee ballots in AZ both (and voter ID - you can't get a ballot (mail-in or otherwise) unless you're registered) - the absentee ones are usually counted last - the mail-ins first (because we do early voting via mail). The worst being provisional ballots which are only counted in close races (provisional fraud is the most common if I'm not mistaken, in most states).
I'm a little foggy on the 'why' AZ does it that way (it's one of those research 'to-do' list items that I've yet to do) apart from the fact that our polling places are a bit tight for the population of the area and the fact we have a staggering amount of retirees who prefer mailing in early.

You should have to jump through substantial hoops to get one and there needs to be an extreme validation process for those ballots, bar codes, serial numbers, tracking numbers, etc..

I think most states are doing that, at least most large (high population) states.
He's wrong. They're not any more secure or inherently any different from "mail-in" ballots. There is no control over whether the people getting either kind of ballot really exist, or ever existed, or still have the mental capacity to know there's an election going on, or are being coerced or paid to fill out the ballot the way someone else directs them. There are nursing home workers filling out ballots for patients with advanced dementia and residential psych facility workers filling out ballots for people who have no idea that the voices telling them what to do aren't real.
If people can't get to a voting location, they don't need to vote (other than US government and military personnel stationed overseas, but really most of those could vote in-person if polling places were set up at embassies and on military bases). For every person who legitimately votes absentee, a lot more fraudulent absentee votes are cast and counted, neutralizing legitimate absentee and in-person votes.
What would really help would be to make it possible to vote in person at any polling place, instead of having to go to a specifc one. We also need to completely separate elections for federal office (POTUS, VP, House, and Senate) from elections for state and local office. No state should be in a position to implement its own election laws and have those state laws potentially affect the outcome of elections for federal offices.

Anyone counting ballots who has access to who pulled a VBM ballot, but didn't send it in can then count the missing VBM ballot for that worker's preferred candidate. Absentee voting is impossible without ID and someone to notarize your already sealed ballot. Absentee voting isn't a last second fix.. you plan ahead and there's an entire process.

Not all states require notarization. In my state, the person has to request it, with a signature. And sign an affidavit envelope in which the completed ballot is placed. Then placed within a mailing envelope. None of them are opened until Election Day and only verifying that person has not yet voted.

Oklahoma here. We don't have a seperate voter id, but we have to show a valid driver's license or equivalent to vote in person. Same id reqs when I've voted absentee in 2016/2018, plus I had to get it notarized both times.
I'll never forget voting for Trump via absentee in 2016. I was beaming while the notary stamped everything.
But looking back, i wonder if all the absentee ballots nationwide even get counted.. there's too much opportunity for shady stuff
Our voter ID is any government issued ID with a photo. Drivers license, passport, state college IDs, and some larger private colleges (Dartmouth comes to mind).

3 of the 5 states that do mail in ballots have voted straight D for decades. Utah has voted straight R last few decades.
A National check of mail in ballots ALL FROM THE SAME RESIDENCE - would do A LOT to eradicate some fraud. They have "drop houses" at which 10 or 15 mail in ballots get delivered. Real address, fake residents.

Paper Ballot or digital ballot with ability to print the ballot to submit on the spot with receipt. (You can have a digital kiosk, but the ballot it prints out must be submitted and you keep a digital receipt of whom you voted for).
U.S MP's will be lockbox keepers. These jobs can be given to active personnel or retired veterans. At least 3 M.P's per polling station with special compensation from the federal government for service (1000-2000 paid every 2-4 years for doing this duty).
Live counting and I do mean live.... Cameras with control as the information is fed through. Any type of system hiccup will trigger an automatic recount. The MP's during the counting will stand there and certify under perjury that all ballots are counted.
90 day voter roll purging, 30 days on election year. On off years, the states are mandated to purge the voter rolls every 90 days. Voters will get a re-new card in the mail to update all information and it must be sent back. Either hit the check that says everything is correct or update your information. Just drop it off at your Local Post office or DMV. If done digitally a scan .pdf must be included as well.

I wish Voter Fraud got taken as seriously as audited financial statements. The standard for that is quite a low barrier:

Mail in votes is just another way to reduce controls in place in a system that is already lacking on controls.
How? Both are mailed. I'm not tracking this one - and we do mail-ins and absentee ballots in AZ both (and voter ID - you can't get a ballot (mail-in or otherwise) unless you're registered) - the absentee ones are usually counted last - the mail-ins first (because we do early voting via mail). The worst being provisional ballots which are only counted in close races (provisional fraud is the most common if I'm not mistaken, in most states).
I'm a little foggy on the 'why' AZ does it that way (it's one of those research 'to-do' list items that I've yet to do) apart from the fact that our polling places are a bit tight for the population of the area and the fact we have a staggering amount of retirees who prefer mailing in early.
Both are kinda crappy - so I'm curious where he's coming from on this apart from the fact that anything involving mail is a platform for fraud and ballot harvesting. But how is one not as suck as the other?

Missouri here. If you want to vote absentee here, you need to notarize it personally. Nobody can transport the ballot for you either, you either drop in on the mail signed or vote ahead on a Saturday when they open a place to do it in advance.
In poorer places, the voting booth goes to where the seniors are. Absentee ballots are basically exclusively for the military.
An absentee ballot should be like the fucking Willy Wonka golden ticket - nearly impossible to get.
You should have to jump through substantial hoops to get one and there needs to be an extreme validation process for those ballots, bar codes, serial numbers, tracking numbers, etc..
If 100% mail-in voting became a thing, the Dems would be able to steal any election they wanted. Dems ballots would mysteriously be found at the last minute in a close election, while Republicans ballots would be chucked in the trash.
They'd probably even alter Republican ballots, which is why in-person voting is so important. At least with in-person voting it's somewhat more difficult to alter someones vote (although the Dems have found a way to do so in the past, and then claimed it was a "computer glitch").
This also shows us why Voter ID is necessary. Just look at how coordinated the left-wing media is in pushing mail-in voting. They are going to try to steal this election whether we vote in-person or not. Mail-in voting would just make it a lot easier for them to do so.
