lol sorry but watergate WAS an amateur burglary. The reason they got caught was a single piece of tape. G Gordon Liddy explained during his old radio show that they had put a piece of tape over a door latch so a door wouldnt lock, he explained that the cleaning crew did this all the time. The cleaning crew came through the bldg and saw the tape so they thought they (the cleaning crew) had left it by accident so they removed it and walked away. The burglars saw the tape missing on the door and reapplied it not knowing it was the cleaning crew that had removed it. The cleaning crew walking out of the bldg saw the tape replaced and got suspicious and reported it to the bldg security and as they say the rest is history.
