Common sense. Subways and trains are like being stuck on the cruise ships. Incubators for spreading the virus.

Until they deal with this in NY it's going to be a huge fucking problem for all of us.

Japanese people wear masks at the drop of a hat. A mask dramatically reduces the amount of infectious droplets in a cough or sneeze.

Japan shut all the schools down in the entire country in early March.

That was the #1 suggestion made by the Imperial College model to suppress contagion.

Combination of factors. Masks, and school shutdowns lowering the initial spread rate, thus a lower rate overall later.
