While not exactly pertaining to government, “Unscripted” by MJ DeMarco contains a lot of good stuff about capitalism, entrepreneurship, and how you as an individual fits into the whole thing, and he lays out some guidelines for those interested in entrepreneurship.

No problem! Forgot to mention that if you’re a veteran or active duty service member, you can e-mail him and get the book for free.

"Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins
"The Big Bamboozle" by Phillip Marshall (hard to find because it is out of print and he and his family were murdered)

I have read Confessions. I even met him when I was living in the country where he is now. Thanks

Wow that's awesome you got to meet the man, I read that book back in high school and it was a huge eye opener. You would like "The Big Bamboozle," its hard to find (I paid like $100 bucks for a used copy) but I believe Phillip Marshall's earlier book is more readily available and covers mostly the same material. He, his two kids, and his dog were murdered in the middle of the night while he was working on his next book.

Geezus wow that's crazy. Perkins thought the same was going to happen to him. He didn't trust me for a long time, lol. He has an awesome garden in his backyard, first time I saw tumeric growing. He dug one up, cleaned it off, and gave me a snapped off piece. Very knowledgeable, no....he is extremely knowledgeable, well-read, and humble. I think I talked with him around 15-20 totals hours during that year. Hella smaht:)

That's really cool, man I wish I could pick his brain...did he recommend any books to you?

Interesting you ask that. Whenever I was over at his house we either talked in his garden or in his office. In his office I would always end up sitting in a chair opposite him, his back being up against a wall of books. He caught me numerous times looking over his shoulder and trying to read book titles, lol. He would sometimez leave the room and when he came back in he would catch me over at his wall of books and chuckle.

He lent me a few books but I was mainly interested in his typed or hand-written pages that he wrote his thoughts on. He had a lot of interests and seemed resolute in having already exhausted the Confessions subject. Let's say out of those 20 hours total, we may have talked about 10 minutes on that subject. It's been a few years since I've been there but man those were good times with a fucking legend.

Good stuff. Yea I would imagine a guy like him would have a wide variety of interests and he must have spent so much time on that subject he was over it. Awesome to meet people that make you go, "I could learn a lot from this person."
