Dont act like this generation and the next aren't ALREADY socially distant. My dad can go to a new place and just start talking to everyone, but my generation keeps to themselves and the younger ones are in their phones. This virus and media didnt do that.

22
theultimatesean 22 points ago +22 / -0

In fact, that everyone is always connected to their phones instead of reality is the only reason this all happened.

13
thingaboutarsenal 13 points ago +13 / -0

But, I'm on my phone right now talking to all my frens about how much China is Asshoe.

10

Well put

The tactic was simple, make an enemy out of people who won't comply and inflame people against them.

Deadly virus!

Stupid people are going out and killing us all! > Force them to stay home!

Angry Indignation against people who value their rights.

The now "justified" hysterical fear and anger driving a demand to shut down absolutely everything without considering the consequences.

Not all of us accepted this. I still don't follow one fucking thing my gov demanded.

11
misterLahey 11 points ago +11 / -0

I should start wearing scarlet letters on my clothing when I go out and about to "non-essential" places all week.

Maybe a scarlet IDGAF or GFY.

But that would be too subtle for these fucking scared sheep.

5
FuckuSpez 5 points ago +5 / -0

Stealing this.

I like the IDGAF. Maybe ‘Non-compliant’.

I’ve been considering the demonstrating that we are not subjects of Governor whoever. We don’t take orders we give them and will comply voluntarily when necessary.

5
Joeret 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. I still have to go to work and I haven’t changed my routine at all.

15
misterLahey 15 points ago +16 / -1

A bunch of fucking Karens

5
FuckuSpez 5 points ago +5 / -0

Holy fucking this. Just today Karen’s cuck of a husband Glen posted in our Nextdoor a photo of the kids he called the cops on for playing in the park. Accompanied by a parent-shaming virtue-signaling tirade condemning them for letting their children, well, be children. I hastily informed everyone not to let Glen know when the trains to the gulags arrive because he will narc the shit out of all of us.

15
splink 15 points ago +15 / -0

And they're all so quick to shame and tattle if anyone doesn't follow along, virtue signaling to the max.

You should spend some time watching European television broadcasts. Their PSAs are fucking pathetic. hashtag iorestoacasa, etc.

Are they still on about their no no square? That was about all the "European" I've been able to stomach ...

I do what I do. Went hiking yesterday, shopping at a store that was open the day before that, went to the dentist this week. I'm living my life. I'm being respectful of other people's concerns and won't get too close to them but other than that, my life continues as normal.

4

Because it's the grabble they always wished climate change would be.

4
Razeontherock 4 points ago +4 / -0

I almost have to think of that as an improvement, but never has a pandemic shut the economy down. Wtf

7
Cheynemak 7 points ago +7 / -0

I made a comment on a news article on FB basically saying how I’m scared of govt (I’m a NJ pede) taking more and more liberties in the name of safety. I proceeded to get dog-piled on by people with these profile pic borders saying “think of the nurses and people dying!!” Mind you, I am a physical therapist in an acute care hospital who work with these nurses; providing care for my patients and being skeptical of govt decisions are two independent and non-related issues.

In the main, you are correct. Happily there are many, this writer amount them, who do not and have never Trusted Govt. 'advice' on ANYTHING! This writer is old enough to remember the "Govt Advice" for an A Bomb attack; hide under your school desk{ and let your arse wave goodby to the world and all that you knew]

A Pox on this Stalin-ism. I ride my motorbike when I wish, if it ever stops snowing up here, again! I go outside without a hazmat suit, or the like. The local cops, in a surprise move, are NOT following the Dem. Gov. Orders. The next town and county over the river from Maines' State House, its sheriff[he was written of here]has told the Gov. to take a '05 mile walk off a 10 foot pier' and he is not setting up a KGB inspired police state. Lets see how long he has a job.

5
Razeontherock 5 points ago +5 / -0

Our A bomb drills included going to the bomb shelter. Those stopped in '77, not sure if because of policy or if it was me transitioning to a different school that never had them.

Anyway here in WI we had this strange white stuff flying through the air today, completely horizontal. Not hail, not snow, not a "wintry mix." Haven't had any snow on the ground for a bit though. Not sure about the northern part of the State.

3
KiltedTailor 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ahh Yes, the bomb shelters!. I remember those as well. And 'they' never told the citizens of the 'chimney effect' of the A bomb blast, even miles away. It would suck the air right out of the 'shelter' and everyones lungs! They were still having 'bomb drills' when I went off to war in '68, and I am surprised to note they lasted to '77, I cannot/do not recall them that late.

And the 'evil white stuff', yes, Maine had about 02 days of Spring and back to Fall. The robins were all wearing little knitted sweaters made for them by old ladies in the nursing homes and PETA folks, to keep warm. I even road my Suzuki for a few cold days, 'dodging KGB road blocks'. Now there is some 04 inches of WET, cement like snow on the ground. HARK! I hear my motor bike crying softly in the garage over the fell weather!

1
Razeontherock 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is the first I've heard of any chimney effect. And here they made us feel so prepared, lol. Get this: back on reddit I had people arguing that younger generations were affected by the cold war more. Even after the USSR fell. Public education just turns their minds to mush, apparently.

I imagine where bomb drills did and did not take place was very much a local decision. I was born in 64 and never experienced one outside of elementary school.

1
KiltedTailor 1 point ago +1 / -0

YEs, the chimney effect was a very recent discovery for me as well, but it makes perfect sense with the laws of physics. The "BIG BOOM' is going to draw ALL the air from ground level, up and into the famous mushroom cloud. You can see the wind effect in the OLD b&w movies of the fake towns they 'tested the effects of The Bomb on"

and I think the choices are also based on the historical time line. You came to the world in '64, add 05 years, and its '66, right at the historical end time of the Cold War. This writer was born in 1950, right at the Start of the Cold War

Your right the younger generation is full of 'horse hockey' the Cold War had near zero effect on them, unless they were living in a Communist Nation

Breaking social bonds between people, coupled with manufactured panic causing "me first" hoarding behavior and extreme disapproval/criminalization of those not conforming to the new rules, will make it easier for your neighbor to line you up against a wall and shoot you when the order goes out.

Joeret 3 points ago +3 / -0

This should be a Democrat Election Day slogan.

QuantumRemedy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well this is extremely skewed because you're only including idiots in this pool. When compared to other countries (and comparing most states to the clusterfucks that are NY and NO), we have largely not complied and not entirely peacefully.

The real issue isn't that sheeple exist in America, the issue is that they have forced "non-essential" businesses and positions into compliance, but fucking everyone is still going out and doing largely whatever the fuck they want, unlike other countries that are almost 100% compliant.

If going to work is a risk, then going to the supermarket is more of a risk. There is more uncontrollable, unidentifiable exposure at a grocery store than at a workplace where you at least possibly have a way of knowing something about many of the people you come in contact with and is in a controllable environment where you can have company policy aid in keeping things sanitary.
