Nobody believes these people anymore. It's over. At this point they're just talking to themselves. Think about that. 7 out of 10 people, and 9 out of 10 Republicans do not trust the news to be telling the truth.
So when people say that the news is fake and all they do is lie, just realize you're not alone in believing that. The vast majority of Americans do not believe these people anymore. It's meaningless, and journalists have no one to blame but themselves.

I've got friends on both sides of the aisle and nobody discusses national news anymore. It's been this way for about 2 years.
I think everyone watches it to some extent but they take it with a huge grain of salt. Nobody is sharing links, it's not brought up in casual conversations, never discussed at work or family gatherings, it's become taboo and socially inappropriate.
Fake News is losing hugely. When people are embarrassed or it's considered rude to discuss your work, you're in a pickle. Bringing up politics in casual conversation is like up bringing up pornography. It is NOT appropriate.
They are merely puppets, their strings are their paychecks.

Did the "journalists" who worked for Pravda in the USSR have trouble living with themselves? No, because they were 10th-rate people with low moral character and no conscience. They had no qualms about lying for a living. These were exactly the kind of people Pravda wanted, and also the only kind who wanted to work for Pravda.
People with moral integrity were dissidents and formed their an alternative underground press to spread the truth (Samizdat).
