This is a lie.

In fact, in 1967 about 9% of households made over $100,000 with 25% under $25,000 (in 2017 dollars)

By 2017 the share making over $100,000 had increased to 29% (wow) and those under $25k had shrunk to only 20%.

So, if people are wealthier, why does this lie propagate?

The real problem is that government intervention, mostly that in healthcare and education, has dramatically increased the cost of services.
