Really going out of the way to obfuscate a simple number, huh?

And deaths are being overstated, so not even that metric is reliable

deaths that wouldnt have appened with a normal flu is the only thing that matters

How is this deceiving, it looks like it's showing cases per 100,000 people in each county. What am I missing?

Most of those counties have less than 100k. Most people can't understand figures, so they internalize inflated numbers.

For example, if a county has 10k people and has 2 cases, this chart will show 20 for that county.

Rather than showing cases per county, which would barely show anything at all in lots of cases, they show "cases per 100k" which gives a scarier figure at first glance.

I think showing per capita numbers is almost always better and clearer than raw numbers. Raw numbers can be way more deceiving.

You could make the case that maybe he should show cases per 10,000 rather than 100,000 if most counties don't have 100,000, but raw numbers rarely tell the whole story.

If there's 20,000 people in your county, and twenty people who died had symptoms, however mild, that make them think they might have had covid-19, then this mapping method will slap a nice dark red 100 on your county.

NOW DO YOU SEE IT?

The chat is showing confirmed cases, not people who have symptoms, so what you just said makes no sense.

Yea, it will show 4 per 100,000, which is accurate, and which most people can understand.. I still don't see the problem with this char. I think this is the correct way to report data.

Except most people aren’t as smart as you ( not trying to be sarcastic) and only see the number not the whole chart

Historic moment in time, right here. Fake News lives on.
