Rush was just talking about how people keep saying "China needs to pay for this!"
He agrees, but he says "how do you do it, without China shutting down the export of critical goods to the USA" (like antibiotics for instance), and various other political problems.
But he also says he believes Trump agrees with that sentiment and wants China to pay, and wants to come up with a way to make it happen.
I think China is digging their own hole with how they're handling this virus, at least in the public's eyes. No new cases? An alleged patient zero just "disappearing"? Either way, I agree that our President has a plan, or is at least coming up with one on how to handle China, and lessen their impact on our lives and economy.
We need to make sure he gets a second term now more than ever.
If we rebook their share of the debt AND make it available on the open market (countries love buying our debt) we can nullify 5% of our national debt in one shot - effectively paying for all the stimuluses in one shot. We're talking over 2 trillion dollars.
edit - I think - I'm horribly mashing the terms and mechanisms - but the idea should be possible.
BTW - Vietnam is one more trade deal or alliance away from effectively losing the Vietnam war (the US portion). They seriously LOVE us and LOVE President Trump - and HATE China. They'd be my pick for the top in taking up manufacturing slack (compared to India). We'd have enough leverage to keep massive pollution out of the mix if we team-up right. Which would be nice, because Da Nang is a gorgeous city (the people are great too - very liberated compared to the usual Chicom nationalist stock). They don't need a 400% increase in eastern industrial fallout from a Western-edge industrial build-up.
I don't know if you timed-out (the site is slow at the moment I noticed) but don't keep spamming the same post please?
There are depressed regions of the United States that deserve that manufacturing business. Vietnam? How about the Rust Belt or upstate New York instead.
Distance. A lot of manufacturing requires nearby manufacturing of sub-components. Even if we have a handful of manufacturers ready to start in 90 days - we'd be missing a lot of supply chain. We're pretty spread out at the moment for a lot of stuff that's been concentrated in China for decades, that's pretty much the domain of asian countries. They have whole cities which are essentially mega-campuses of factories feeding each other.
To punish China 'now' - we need to move to all countries that can take it on 'now'. If we can do it 'now' then by all means - but I'm thinking shortest distance between 2 points, and hurting China the most - and the fastest.
There's also a population gap. The reason most assembly in China is done by hand is it allows instant line reconfiguration (which we can't do), and of course the massive amount of hands available. Vietnam would be only 'one' place required. There'd need to be plenty more (Vietnam isn't huge either at only around 100m - but it scales fast and has a lot of sub-components already available).
It's a big party and everyone is invited if we want to get out of China quick. And I mean domestic and international players.
Vietnam is a single party communist state also. It is just a poorer China.
How about we learn our lessons and not do that shit again and instead bring things back to the west?
China was dragged in to the modern world by America, without America, China would be still as poor as North Korea. Look where that got us, for all our help we get lied about, spied on, all our IP stolen. We enabled China to do this to us, we must not repeat that.

Don't forget the Drs disappearing also. #FuckChyNa

Trump has slowly been getting companies to move out of China. It's just that almost all of our shit comes from them, so it's a massive hurdle.
China is all in on this election.
And a lot have been relocating to Taiwan.
