I mean, does anyone really believe China's communist healthcare system was on top of this thing as soon as it started? Especially considering the high percentage of patients that don't get seriously ill. How long did it take to amass enough really sick people to even draw attention and start people asking questions? It certainly wasn't like an episode of doctor house with the very first patient that didn't immediately respond to traditional treatments setting off a whirlwind of specialized testing.

Think about it. This thing was already spreading for months before anyone was even considering there was something that maybe they should get around to looking into.

The only reason I believed any of this hype was because China shut down. They don't give a shit about a few hundred thousand peasants dying, so this must be serious.

But now, after noticing the distinct lack of bodies in the streets, why did they shut down? Pure theatrics to convince us? That's a pretty big operation.

I think it makes more sense if you assume incompetence on the part of the CCP. Strict martial law and oppression of their citizenry is their FIRST instinct, not a last resort. I don't think they faked it. I think their crappy communist healthcare system and centrally managed treatment protocols all led by people selected more for party faithfulness than ability led to them actively making things worse for themselves and the rest of the world.

That implies the CCP expected many millions dead. The CCP wouldn't burn literally trillions if dollars to save 100,000 old people.

In fact, they would probably see the elimination of the 'too old/frail to work' as beneficial.

I don't believe they were trying to save anyone. I think they just shut them all down in their homes expecting to find their bodies when it was all over.

But why shut down at all? Keep them working and generating income for the CCP. Replace the few young folks that die as needed.

Well the party leaders are ALSO old people. Plus they had they whole HK uprising thing they needed to shut down at the same time. They were probably scared of someone getting THEM sick.

Kinda like all the college deans and professors insisting their classes be cancelled so the students don't get them sick.

I don't buy it. Every major western city would be picking up bodies with excavators if it was actually deadly enough for the Chicoms to care. Instead we have statistically insignificant numbers of dead people.

It seems it would be natural for a virus to weaken to continue to exist. The strongest versions kill the host and do so in the fastest time. Not a very good replication strategy. But some want to say it mutates into stronger versions to scare us. That may be true w a bacteria by logic bec it is self selected against antibiotic success but not with a virus. Just my thoughts about it, although plenty of scientists agree

The lockdown/fear ended the protests.

The team tested 3,200 people at three Bay Area locations on Saturday using an antibody test for COVID-19 and expect to release results in the coming weeks.

Well then, we must agree to suppress that information for the good of the country. No use giving anyone hope, right?

Not when the goal is to scare people half to death so they'll give up their constitutional rights to their totalitarian governors and mayors.

I honestly now think I had COVID19 in late January. I had my annual flu shot in October. Late January I came down with a nasty case of flu - all the symptoms of Corona Virus - and about 3-4 days into being sick I had some difficulty breathing and pain in my chest. I developed the illness 7 days after I had traveled to NYC. I should see if I have antibodies.

The 2017 flu shot increased your chance of corona.

Think this virus has been around the world a few times.

I would just like them to go to random towns. Not cities, and just see who has these anti bodies.

If you had the flu earlier this year, you more than likely had it.

A phlebotomists personal experience from some parking-lot testing is not a good source. California is doing a 3200 person study but they haven't published results yet. It does stand to reason that Californians were exposed very early on, like November, since there were direct flights to Wuhan to LA, and the virus was active then.

Why did Dr. Birx say during the press conference yesterday that there wasn’t an anti-body test? Did anyone else catch that? Someone asked a question about testing everybody with an anti-body test to see if they’ve been previously affected and she said there wasn't one yet.

dahnald 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think its that the ones they do have are really bad and inaccurate right now.

Some of the antibody tests out there right now react positive to ANY coronavirus immune response, and may not be specific for SARS-CoV-2. There are plenty of coronaviruses that just cause a minor cold (yes I know for many people SARS-Cov-2 just causes a minor illness as well).

Right. Some lady asked Trump if he had the anti-body test and he said isn't wasn't available.

I got so sick on December 11, that I went to urgent care for the first time in 6 years.

I was told by the doc - "we've had over 100 people with this upper respiratory infection this week alone." I said "bad flu season huh?" and she said "I'm not going to waste your money and do a flu test - it's not the flu, just some nasty upper respiratory bug that's going around. We've done a lot of flu tests and they all come back negative."

December 11 was a Wednesday. All the symptoms were exactly as people describe Covid-19. I got a massive antibotic and some cough medicine from her. Felt like shit for another 2-3 days, then slowly got back to normal - probably started feeling "normal" around first week of January.

Talked to tons of people that have similar stories. This shit has been here since November.

I work in a medical records/pathology office that serves several hospital campuses in San Francisco everyone in my office had a nasty bug Nov-Jan.

We're convinced we had it.

What even is this source?

There is no antibody test yet, and phlebotomists don't have access to this kind of information. This is so flimsy and it's getting upvoted.

I don’t believe this. This pandemic is bullshit in the fact the the death toll is exaggerated and the expectations were as well. But the virus is real. My family and others I know of had that virus going around in December/January. It was a bad virus but we didn’t need hospitalization or a ventilator. My family and also my wifes family are full of asthmatics. If it was this Coronavirus we would of needed hospitalization.

My town is hit hard by Coronavirus right now. It has one of the highest rates per population in the state. I don’t believe it is the same virus going around earlier in the year. Could be a mutation of it though. I don’t know anyone in my town personally but some of my family members do. Even some who have died from it. I think this virus is worse and we should be cautious about it. But it isn’t bad enough to warrant the reactions we have seen.

Just one question. How are deaths from ALL causes in NY currently at double the normal? How does that make any sense?

My thoughts are he was forced to shut down because if he didnt then:

  1. economy would be ruined anyway as people REEEEEEE about the virus
  2. He's given an estimate of 2.2m people dying within a 2 month period and they'd REEEEEEEE loud over this one.
  3. Based on the above two he's in a no lose situation.

Anything less than 2.2m deaths should be seen as strong leadership, even if we know the statistics were completely made up. If he gets under 200k with the revised statistics then again, great job (I think he knows he's guaranteed to do this).

Because the actions of Trump himself caused the dip in markets he knows he can wave his magic wand and fix it. If this was done due to external factors its much harder for him to fix.
