Here in Australia the ABC (state-funded "independent" broadcaster) is doing a similar thing. They are reporting based on models of 25 million Australians becoming sick - literally every person in the country! This despite having one of the lowest infection rates in the world and <100 new daily cases, down from a peak of ~500/day two weeks ago.
