Nobody knows how many people would have died if we had done nothing, or, if we had implemented more sensible restrictions rather than the authoritarian lock-downs being imposed by most governors.

What we do know for fact is that over 16 million people have lost their jobs and this number will continue to rise.

We know that millions of small businesses are being destroyed and many of them will never reopen.

We know that tens of millions of kids are being harmed in various ways by essentially being locked in their houses with no social interaction, no sports, very little education and a whole host of other problems.

We know that people are not going for regular doctor and dental visits and there will be numerous medical problems which will ultimately be much worse because they were not caught early.

At this point it's obvious that the damage we've inflicted on ourselves is far worse than than the damage the virus has caused. It seems clear to me that we have massively overreacted.

I agree and think our president was put in a position to have to play along or fall into a trap about how if he didn't do anything then everyone who died was his fault. This is all bullshit political football on a grand scale... He's going to have to leverage the argument this post is making since that'll shield him from any of the idiots who would eat this shit up (which are a lot)

Yup, what we needed wasn't just state-by-state, not even county-by-county, but city-by-city decisions.

Lockdown the state for 48 hours, sure thing. That's long enough to put together the County-level planning. Lockdown the most populated counties for another 72 hours or so. Absolutely. Then you can find out which Cities have the most needs. Lockdown the Bay Area, but leave rural California alone. Lockdown Dallas, but leave Hutchins and Wilmer tf alone.

It makes no sense that outdoor markets, outdoor restaurants, drive-in movie theatres, etc, can't be open right now, with reduced occupancy. It's fucking idiotic and it's MANUFACTURED, and no amount of robbing China or demanding reparations from the CCP, is going to make it up.
