The original models had full social distancing (shutdown) included, as have every revision.

Hundreds of thousands of dead Americans was suposed to be WITH shutdowns

Personally I'm waiting for the world versions to finish spiking. 100k dead first round and most of the second and third world have not even gotten started. One wish.. no second round in America

I can respect that, but the fact still remains that the IHME models have been wrong from the get-go and shutdowns being effective aren't why.

There's a possibility this right here IS the second wave. It's looking like the original outbreak goes back to November, and many people are reporting experiencing multi weak long sicknesses with wuflu-like symptoms.

WTF are you talking about? The Imperial College which all these models came from had social distancing built-in to the worse case scenario!

Should get your noggin' joggin' when the most compacted slums in the world, who have NO GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING CHOICE but to do the opposite of social distancing (Favelas in Brazil, slums in Mumbai, etc), and yet you aren't seeing 5,000 people a day dropping like flies. Have you seen the damned YouTube videos of these areas? These people live six to eight people in a 10x10 room, with a communal bathroom. Communal. As in, shared with HUNDREDS of other people.

With all due respect, you can shove your MODELS up your ASSHOLE until you can explain WHY these people aren't dying by the THOUSANDS. It should be clear by now that we have a combination of factors (diet? pollution/smog? smoking? diabetes/hypertension/etc?) leading to massive deaths in Italy, China, U.S., etc, but that are exempting other absolutely MASSIVELY densely populated areas. Malnutrition, etc. don't seem to be pushing these people over the edge, so it's CLEARLY something else.

Dude, calm down a bit. Look at the third world and notice that they tend to have a malaria problem in a lot of places. What is the most common treatment for someone who doesn’t have a lot of money but also doesn’t want to die of malaria? Take a minute and think about it

So a country of 1.3 billion people, a huge amount of whom live on less than $2/day......can afford to take $10/day worth of Hydroxychloroquine as a prophylaxis?

Jesus Christ you shills are fucking stupid.

India has a YUGE malaria eradication infrastructure, including thousands of drug distribution centers for FREE distribution of chloroquine.

STEVE_HUFFMANS_BULL 1 point ago +9 / -8

it costs $10 in the US therefore it costs $10 everywhere

Fuck, I didn’t know you were stupid in addition to angry. Hydroxychloroquine is about $.08 per dose in most of the developing world. You’re telling me that’s out of reach of anyone?

So back to the insults to make your argument. Most of these places are not on our news. Think about it. Plus the third world doesn't have roaming press and are weeks behind..

It's been since December, smart guy. Pakistan/India are both right next to Iran, which had a major outbreak, and despite being MASSIVELY populated, we haven't seen any reports SINCE GODDAMN JANUARY about tens of thousands of people dropping like flies. "Not in our news", and yet Italy is? Why again? Let's not be willfully ignorant. We have tens of thousands of people from India here, most VERY highly paid. It is VERY relevant to report on India, especially in the West Coast tech hub cities.

Will you address the slums/favelas or not? I swear to God I'm this close to just dismissing you as a shill. There is no earthly reason why you wouldn't at least fabricate a reason WHY the disease isn't spreading through the slums, unless you are, in fact, a paid actor. ANY normal person - any coworker of mine, any friend of mine, any family member - could at least try to make some shit up. YOU just went right for obfuscation and bullshittery.
