Trump really scrambled to put together a good response given that the Chinese and the WHO lied to us about the severity of the coronavirus. Also, the Democrats and their impeachment nonsense really hampered our ability to prepare. The Democrats kept the nation too focused on unimportant nonsense. This is just a short list of things Trump did that helped to slow down the spread.

  • Travel restrictions on China

  • Travel restriction on Europe

  • Cruise ship quarantines

  • Early formation of the coronavirus task force

  • Social distancing guidelines

  • Better public hygiene guidelines such as wearing a face mask, covering your mouth, washing your hands, etc. Frequently publicizing that people need to engage in better habits.

  • Working with the private sector to develop better COVID-19 testing methods

  • Working with the private sector to boost manufacturing for PPE and ventilators

There is more to this, this is just a short list. Feel free to add to it. Given the hand that Trump was dealt by the Chinese, the WHO, and Democrats he managed to pull through.

Federal response has been incredibly fast and efficient by federal government standards, but the governors have been overreaching and abusing their power left and right, and unfortunately Trump has been backing them. The whole thing is a cluster.

I think Michigan's response has been the worst so far. You can't even buy stuff at the grocery store to work around your house. At least where I am at, Home Depot is still open, it was considered an essential business. I can social distance myself at the store and at home while being productive.

AlohaSnackbar 15 points ago +16 / -1

Home Depot/Lowe's/Menards are still open in Michigan. The OUTDOOR garden centers are closed off, and the paint aisles are roped off (since those were specifically mentioned in that cunts order), but otherwise everything seems available in those stores as there aren't too many things you couldn't claim as a necessity. Lumber? My wall/whatever is sagging dangerously and needs reinforced. Plumbing? Well, that's sanitation. Tools? You need those to fix critical infrastructure in the home.

My local Lowe's has at least brought in some of their living plant material to help "clean the air", and if people want to buy them before a lack of sunlight kills them so they can be replaced with freah plants from outside? Well, that's just good stewardship of people's health.

3
ShrikeDeCil 3 points ago +3 / -0

Trump's "Backing" has been entirely of the gladhanding sort though - not ever explicitly supporting individual specific policies that go beyond 'safe distance'. That was the core "Federal Policy".

This means that the second Trump says "Enough", well, now we can start taking Governors to court for being batshit crazy.

People don't LOGIC their way out of positions they were EMOTED into. ... But they can't be EMOTED out. And the rage against the tyranny, well. Fierce. Much rather rage against -state- level tyranny with the Feds having our back. So... Patience I think.

2
MAGA_MEXICAN_CHILI 2 points ago +2 / -0

Its not that Trump has been backing them. It looks that way but in reality he's allowing the 9th and 10th amendments to take over. Something we havent seen in 30 years other than small "protests" for pet issues like Pot.

So it looks that way but its not that way. Of course some people who argued for states rights now want the Federal Government to step in and slap down what the States are doing because its a big "No-No". Just remember, the DOJ is going start listening to complaints and these states will start facing serious Civil Rights investigations.

On the other side, as the only golden line the previous Polished Turd in Chief said, "If you dont like it, change it". Start flipping these muncipalities red, cities red and governorships red. Vote hard for based Republicans to fill the House and Senate. Then push for America First, pull our manufacturing out of China....Vola...no more China pandemics because that country would be too busy dealing with internal uprisings.

It's sickening to imagine how many people would have died if Hillary was president.

  • There would not have been any restrictions from China until late March, 2 months later, when other countries started to do it. And that's very optimistic, since those other country bans only really happened after Trump's Euro travel ban. So who knows there might not be any until April, if at all.
  • A corona virus task force would not have been formed until recently, if at all. Because Trump was talking about it in January/February, while the Dems were still about impeachment.
  • There would have been no partnership with private industry. Everything would have been government run, slow with bureaucracy.

Fortunately the mortality rate of this disease isn't too high considering how infectious it is and how many people have had it unknowingly. But a larger number of people would have absolutely died without Trump. I believe you're right about the 2.1 million.

5
JediMasterPepe 5 points ago +5 / -0

I disagree. If Hillary had won the globalists wouldn't have needed to even do this.

4
lifeisahologram 4 points ago +4 / -0

We know it was created in a lab, but I'm still not convinced it was released on purpose. Doesn't make China any less responsible, but considering patient zero was working on the virus, and died, and they pretend she is alive, I think it's just an incompetent cover up, that is now being exploited.

3
JediMasterPepe 3 points ago +3 / -0

That is very true. Here is the kicker though. It's their incompetence that let it get out ahead of schedule

There was no going back from there so they rolled on with the plan.

2
MAGA_4EVER 2 points ago +2 / -0

Where have they found that patient zero was working in the lab?? New info to me and Id love to check it out

4
lifeisahologram 4 points ago +4 / -0

Don't have a link atm, but Laowhy86 on YouTube did a comprehensive video on it, which is worth the watch.

Some conservative friendly media have picked it up, like Epoch Times. MSM isn't reporting on it for obvious reasons.

But if memory serves me, the incomplete version of events (not in exact order):

  • Biolabs in Wuhan
  • One of the biolabs post job listing, saying they discovered new unnamed corona virus and are hiring specialists to research it.
  • Suspected Patient Zero works at the same place that posts job about new corona virus.
  • The people that work there experienced situation where they are splattered with bat blood and shit.
  • Patient zero disappears.
  • Any mention of Patient Zero online is mysteriously erased.
  • Local Chinese citizens ask where she is
  • CCP curiously claims she is alive, without proof, or information.

I think there was also something about how they normally provide specimens to the local wet markets when they are done, and possibly gave up the specimens at some point, before the virus was discovered and/or after it was picked up by the lab scientists.

So basically they kill her (or she dies from virus), but not before she and the scientists infect others in their lives, for an unknown amount of time, additional locals pick it up from the markets without any association to scientists or scientists circle. Together it spreads like wildfire.

2
MAGA_4EVER 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't doubt the plausibility of this sequence of events. Strangely, an article circulated on TDW right after you mentioned this from dailymail, I think. They made a lot of the same assertions.

China is asshoe

2
Long_time_lurker 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think there was also a paper from the bio lab where they talk about the 'gain of function' from HIV which is present in this coronavirus.

Sure, scientists say it's a natural mutation and it's present in other viruses, fine, but it's kinda odd that the one biolab was studying that.

If it leaked from them, it would sure explain a lot of the cover up, especially hiding human to human transmission from everyone else.

And it's funny that people are so against the bioweapon theory... it's not like perfectly natural viruses like anthrax haven't been used as weapons before. Pretty sure there was some Japanese cult that did that once...

for the most part, however there's no such thing as. "Reacting accordingly" you either over or under-react.

You over react...at most you end up with an aboundance and waist.

Under-react you end up with massive issues not just from whatever was being faced but at the societal level.

Had the CCP owned media not hyped it up in the U.S (I'm considering all media in the US as foreign mouthpieces for China) we probably wouldnt be having lopsided shortage issues.

uvontheterrible 34 points ago +41 / -7

I don't buy it. Those numbers are based on models that have proven to be very defective. Throwing out numbers like that is a weak attempt to justify the destruction our government has inflicted on this country.

We need to start opening up states without big problems NOW, with the more hard hit states following shortly after.

28
letrain 28 points ago +30 / -2

Ssshhhh. All the Dems used those numbers to blast Trump's response, so we will use it against them. ;)

23
MAGADeusVult [S] 23 points ago +24 / -1

Yup, Dems were claiming that 2.2 million people would die from the CHINESE coronavirus. Now it will be closer to 60,000. We need to cite their 2.2 million number whenever talking about this virus.

11
uvontheterrible 11 points ago +12 / -1

The problem with giving that number any credibility whatsoever is that people will use it as an excuse to keep the country locked down. That number is pure speculation.

8
Dirk_Diggler 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yep, they will be either forced to reconcile the facts that either their projections were wildly inaccurate (looking at you, "climate change), or they will have to credit the president with saving millions of lives. The left really painted themselves in a corner with this mess. They can try and weasel their way around this, but it's too glaringly obvious at this point.

1

I would also like to have a serious investigation into every death atributed to the Wu Flu.

I know that's not really possible but you get my point.

21
deadbeaf 21 points ago +21 / -0

Actually, like other posters are saying, this is really the icing on the cake. They either have to concede that the original numbers were completely wrong and that not that many would have died anyways, or they have to concede that the US response worked.

In either situation Trump wins and the MSM image goes down the tubes.

If they concede the numbers were wrong and the initial panic was uncalled for as an attempt to reduce the value of the Trump response, Redpills across America will be shoved down the throat of unsuspecting liberals and independents when they realize they were furloughed and fired over plain and simple irresponsible journalism.

If they refuse to do that, they really can't run the stories anymore that the Trump response has been inadequate, especially as our case numbers and antibody testing start to really downgrade the mortality rate of the virus. This Redpill is a little more subtle, but ultimately the real kicker will be the anger of the unemployed after this whole thing subsides.

At many times I doubt the whole '5d chess' meme as Trump just getting repeatedly lucky, but this one seems like a true interdimensional checkmate.

10
gabwinone 10 points ago +10 / -0

This! Trump comes out the winner if this 2.2 million projected dead coronavirus statistics is used. Either Trump did an amazing job and saved over 2.1 million lives or Democrats and the media were wrong and wrecked our economy for nothing. This will be the biggest redpill ever.

He's already dropped little statements in his pressers he's moving quicker than the Democrats, Fauci, or Birx want to.

His original timeline was around Easter - and in his last couple of pressers, both Fauci and Birx have had to admit the numbers are leveling off. All the stupid reporter questions center around the lame "if the EXPERTS say keep it closed" BS.

I think I would be 100% spot on to say Trump not only is looking at the numbers hard for the earliest possible date - he's got a optimistic plan to do this big.

He doesn't think like a politician - he thinks like a businessman and MAGA is his business and product.

6
Zog1 6 points ago +7 / -1

I think we will only really know after we have antibody testing to determine the actual infection rate and thus the actual fatality rate. The local hospital here (city of 120k people) has 17 workers infected and there’s only 35 people infected outside of that hospital. Theoretically you would think those hospital workers got it from whichever of the 35 were at the hospital, and presumptively they were wearing appropriate PPE and still got infected. So it seems like it’s pretty incredibly contagious. The thing we don’t know is the actual fatality rate.

3
WeThoughtYouWasAToad 3 points ago +5 / -2

How many calories are in a fingertip worth of Cheeto dust? Now, how many calories are in 135 fingerfulls of Cheeto dust?

Being exposed to that many people breathing/coughing/sneezing virus particles, of course it'd be bad. Being exposed to ONE person at the grocery store, however, is not going to lead to you spreading the virus to 125 people at your workplace and a subsequent nationwide pandemic.

5
Cmchn 5 points ago +5 / -0

Back in the fall, pretty much my entire department was out over about 2-4 weeks with a bad flu. I probably got exposed to it back in the beginning, lol.

1
PraiseBeToScience 1 point ago +1 / -0

Whoosh ;)

1
ShampocalypseWOW 1 point ago +1 / -0

If there was no effort to stop the spread, then 2 million in the US would be pretty reasonable. The virus spreads much more easily than a normal flu, so while a normal flu usually infects an average of 60 million or so, we can assume that the Chinese virus would infect many more than that. Let's say it infects 100 million over the course of many months (entirely possible). Two million deaths would be a death rate of 2%, which is what we've been seeing. Of course, the likely number of infections would probably be much higher, so 2 million deaths would be less than 2%, but the percent is irrelevant. The Chinese virus is much more deadly than a normal flu virus. Not as much as we were told, and not as much as the numbers in many countries would suggest since they're overblowing their numbers for political reasons. But 2 million is absolutely realistic in a scenario where we do nothing. Frankly I would expect many more than that with zero intervention.

1
uvontheterrible 1 point ago +1 / -0

If there was no effort to stop the spread, then 2 million in the US would be pretty reasonable.

This is pure speculation. We'll really never know. The only think we have to go on are models which have proven to be very inaccurate

But the real point is, it's a false argument to even talk about "if we did nothing", and it's completely dishonest for any model to publish numbers for that scenario, because it is not a reasonable scenario. Even if the government did nothing, the population, organically, would have taken steps to start social distancing. If That many people were getting sick, people would have naturally eliminated non-essential travel and trips out of the house, so the whole 2 Million number is a fraud any way you look at it.

1
ShampocalypseWOW 1 point ago +1 / -0

The only think we have to go on are models which have proven to be very inaccurate

Not at all. Look at what I said. I'm basing this on actual data about regular flues. We know for a fact that the Chinese virus is at least 10 times more deadly than a normal flu, which usually kills around .1%. We also know that this virus spreads much more easily than a regular flu, so it would absolutely infect more people. In a country of over 300 million, it's easy to imagine one in three getting infected.

it's a false argument to even talk about "if we did nothing"

No, you just don't understand what I'm even saying. You're saying the 2 million number is based on bad models and so the number is totally outside the realm of possibility. I explained why it's not based on models and why it's perfectly reasonable to assume that number could happen in a realistic scenario (doing nothing, like we do pretty much every year).

0
uvontheterrible 0 points ago +1 / -1

We don't know the Chinese virus is 10 times more deadly than the seasonal flu. Since we really have no idea how many people have been infected, and we won't until there are large scale antibody tests, we have no idea what the actual fatality rate is.

It seems generally agreed on that the virus spreads more easily than the flu, but even here, experts disagree wildly, with some saying it has an R value of 2.5 and some saying it has an R value of 6, thus, depending on which value you use you will get dramatically different results from the model.

It will probably be months or even years before they have real answers to these questions. Until they have done all the analysis and fully understand the virus, it will be speculation. I do believe that a year or two from now, someone will be able to construct a reliable model based on everything we've learned and predict what would have happened under various conditions with a reasonable amount of certainty, but at this point it's just one step beyond guessing.

1
ShampocalypseWOW 1 point ago +1 / -0

No, we actually do know that it's more deadly. And we know that it spreads more easily. That's based on the genetic makeup of the virus and by looking at its genes we can tell that. The R value has nothing to do with that judgement. The reality is that the virus can take hold and infect someone with a much smaller viral load than with a typical flu, and that's due to how it infects someone (it works differently than influenza viruses, and really different from most corona viruses, because it was made in a lab). We know it's more deadly also because of how it infects people (and where). It can infect pretty much any part of the body, unlike most viruses, and so people with co-morbidities are much more at risk, but so are people without any. Exactly how much more deadly or how much more contagious it is doesn't matter. There are too many factors to make a worthwhile blanket statement. But based on the numbers we're seeing, and taking them with a big grain of salt, 2 million is entirely within the realm of possibility.

17
ripturntle 17 points ago +17 / -0

Now the talking point is that the models he had nothing to do with purposely inflated the numbers so President Trump can boast about how many were saved.

Wonder if more Dems will now question the 2.2M number now.

If they do then people will ask "then why did we go on a path that cost us 16M+ jobs?" If they don't, then Trump saved millions of lives.

They'll probably just say what the Pharisees did when Jesus cornered them with a question: "We don't know!"

I dunno pedes I had a tough day today. I went to buy groceries and stuff for the pets in my nearest town about 40km/25miles away. I came home with nothing. Line ups outside the stores, some stores curb side pickup only.

I lost my shit. I don't take well to change, I have some mental health/anxiety issues I have battled most of my life and was doing great the last few years, weaned off my meds was living well. Along comes the rolling lockdown and I'm ready to fight.

Evidently I don't like having all my rights taken away and my country turned upside down by unelected technocrats. I was literally spitting mad. I made sure I didn't scream anything threatening because I don't want to hurt them, I want them to wake the fuck up.

The globohomo commies have put all of our western nations (except for a few based states in the USA) on lockdown. I don't give a thought to the number of deaths, or fake death lives saved I just want to fight to take my country back from these degenerate commie bastards.

I would rather die fighting for my freedoms than living until I'm 90 in a corona virus free world. People like me are struggling, I'm not going to do it to myself but if this keeps up suicides and death by misadventure will dwarf deaths from the Wuhan Flu.

So sick of this shit. I'm over caring about it, I just want justice.
