No. That's part of the play. The sources are actually real people, and most likely not the ones writing. The sources are people lying, or talking out of their ass. The fake news journalists respect the sources position and publish without verifying. When the fake news journalists start to receive flak, they start touting vague details about the sources describing their stature as an insider, or someone with years of Whitehouse experience or anything that could convince their readers that this person is important enough to keep anonymous due to their potentially sensitive stature. This gives their story legitimacy and delays their need to actually check their own sources long enough for the next cycle to begin.
