Keith Rose has been incredibly on point in his views regarding the Chinese Virus.
I’ve been continually surprised that my conservative friends have joined the voices of “federal govt needs to do more...” throughout this. HARDLY ANY OF THEM ARE ASKING WHY LOCAL HOSPITALs AND STATES AREN’T BETTER PREPARED.
Part of me is very concerned that President Trump is going to acquiesce to Universal Healthcare. He’s essentially already giving everything away to the states and hospitals. Anyway, read Keith Rose’s tweets. They are good.
I wouldn’t go that far. He’s talked about pre existing conditions and looking out for those who can’t afford healthcare (psst- we did/do that with state Medicaid programs.)
Candidate Trump talked a lot about opening up healthcare insurance options across state borders, about free market (let people pick their plans). So, while I don’t think he was for Universal healthcare- I’m very worried that the decisions to shut it all down, as it were, has created the storm for this very thing.
I’m incredibly disappointed that there are many who think this is a post suggesting this is okay if it happens!
I wanted to follow up with a section from an article 2017, which highlights the inconsistencies in Pres Trumps statements. It mentions the book you are talking about, I think.
.... At her briefing on Wednesday, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “I can’t think of anything worse than having government more involved in your healthcare.”
And on Thursday, President Trump called the idea of single-payer health care “a curse on the U.S. and its people” and pledged to veto any version of the bill that reached his desk.
“Trump has not been consistent on this point. As Twitter user Jordan Uhl pointed out, in President Trump’s 2000 book, “The America we deserve,” he strongly espoused the opposite opinion, writing, “We must have universal healthcare.”
I didn’t read his book. I’m only basing my comments on what he said in the campaign. I know he said some things that sounded like he wanted more government in health care than I would want (the way he phrased things).
I didn’t take your comments about Trump supporters personally. I’m not a sycophant, I definitely have supported him because I think he’s a wrecking ball of sorts in DC.
My intent for this post was to highlight the road we are traveling down. And one, yes, that many Trump supporters may or may not know where Trump truly lands on the issue. His opinions have evolved a few times. I, for one, think universal healthcare is the death of getting good, timely and affordable healthcare in this country. Anyone who thinks it can be done is wrong and that would include the genius President of ours.
You cannot convince me that no matter how much we increase our taxes we will EVER have good quality healthcare if Government run.
The high deductibles and shitty insurance are a result of the government stepping in at midnight on Christmas Eve and voting for the shitshow of Obamacare.
I won’t debate you on universal healthcare. We see how inefficient and retarded our government is and there is no convincing me otherwise. It’s not affordable BECAUSE it’s the government. The quality of care decreases exponentially with increased Govt involvement. I had someone tout on here how great Italy’s system is, and or Norway, etc. comparing the US to smaller very different (and not better) systems is not helpful and it’s also highly subjective.
Thx for your comments, but I couldn’t disagree with you more.
I don't have a problem with single payer healthcare, in theory. But in practice it would be a bunch of pharma companies inflating prices and ripping off the taxpayer. I do believe healthcare is a human right, it shouldn't be tied to your employer, and nobody should go bankrupt because they had to get cancer treatment. But it could only work if we get rid of incentives ripe for abuse. I liked Trump's move to force hospitals to publish prices starting in Jan 2021 as a good first step. I'm still hoping we can repeal and replace Obamacare next term.
I think you are misreading what he’s saying. I probably needed to link this better. Please look closer at his positions. He is not for single payer- he’s suggesting it is highly likely based on the crashing of the economy etc.
I understand where you are coming from. I watched a podcast this guy was on several weeks ago. It was good, or so I thought. He didn’t seem to be doomerish to me, I thought he was supportive of Pres Trump and gave good counter points to all the misleading info from media.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. Gut feelings are to be trusted. I’ve not been the most optimistic of late, though, I don’t doubt that of any leader, Pres Trump could turn this turd into greatness with relative ease. Patience and resolve are called for. Anyway, Happy Easter!

If we had single payer healthcare then we could have a 10% fatality rate for covid like all the socialized medicine utopias in Europe.
I agree! #10% death rate!

"Government is incompetent, therefor lets give government full control of our healthcare?"
I think we found the dumbest man on the internet.

Please look closer at his tweet (the full thread and his tweets throughout this God forsaken time). He’s not advocating for this.

You may want to watch, or not. He’s been all over the inaccurate models, the Gates scam, and a lot more. I think being realistic is where he’s at now. https://twitter.com/NigrumFry/status/1244048603452243969
