“Fauci has said the estimation has dropped because of Americans' efforts to self-isolate and practice social distance.”

The 240k included mitigation. Fauci must have forgotten that.

He's all over the place. Says one thing on one show, then contradicts it on the next show or press conference. I wouldn't trust that guy as far as I can throw him.

12
Thenew23rd 12 points ago +12 / -0

Agree. He's what would be called a quack in saner days--a leftist quack.

"The models were wrong I mean way off, so he had to be fired. He's still free to give his opinion and you're free to listen to it, but we need more accuracy than that when it comes to our economy and shutting our countey down, depriving our cotizens of their basic freedoms."

I wish

"Well, truth be told, the models were incorrect in this way. They greatly underestimated the effects of the mitigation efforts I put in place. I am a genius, no?"

5
DickTick 5 points ago +6 / -1

I mean, technically, that is absolutely an argument that he could make... assuming he could actually prove that difference...

4
ProphetOfKek 4 points ago +4 / -0

Can’t prove a negative, so he’ll keep pushing this. But if the normies buy it, they’ll also have to buy that Trump saved millions of lives.

Cmchn 2 points ago +2 / -0

Even if it helped, if they're that far off on how effective it is, and they were as surprised as Birx admitted to being, how much could they know?

It was 220,000 and that was the high end of the IHME confidence range. The low end was 100,000 - and that was based on ending the 15 Days to Stop the Spread on March 31.

Extending it to 30 Days to Stop the Spread, and locking down NY, has caused the range to drop to 26,000 to 152,000.

Stop the Spread is working.

thewild1one 10 points ago +10 / -0

No it wasn’t. It was 240k. The models were wrong. Embarrassingly wrong.

-4
kshoggi -4 points ago +2 / -6

The White house prediction based on the IHME model was 100-240k.

FWIW I appreciate your voice of reason in every thread.

if firing him is a bad look, how about just keeping a leash on him and not letting him talk.

13
Logan051361 13 points ago +13 / -0

Open the country back up and just put him on ignore.

13
FreedomFromGovt 13 points ago +13 / -0

That's why he's going to give him another day or three to establish his malfeasance before he boots him. Trump wanted to be open for Easter (minimum negotiating offer), Fauxci wants him to stay closed till June (maximum demand). Trump's still got some counteroffer wiggle-room since the public is already aware what bids are on the table. Trump's got 2 aces up his sleeve:

  • One: what Fauxci and the leftists aren't paying attention to is the independence given to the governors to call the shots in their own states. Republican governors like our Abbott here in Texas, are only gonna give this another week or so before they fold the tent on this shitshow.

  • Two: the public here in East Texas is already getting very short tempered and surly. They're not used to being told what to do and they'll be putting pressure on Abbott soon (if they haven't already). Abbott will be seen to be responding to "overwhelming pressure" to open...his incumbency is safe...other (R) governors'll follow suit...and, Bob's-yer-uncle!

Trump, meanwhile, has some time to feed Fauxci some rope with which he'll hang himself.

11
Proudly_Deplorable 11 points ago +11 / -0

Not just Texas. Despite having an idiot Democrat governor (thanks, teachers!), Kentuckians don't like being told what to do, either. One of my few more liberal friends was recently commenting on Gov. Beshear's forbidding of small family gatherings for Easter dinner that she was still fixing dinner for her family members and they would just keep their distance outside, if needed. He said it was even forbidden if people stayed six feet apart outside. People can only be pushed so far.

I still don't get why POTUS hadn't gotten a different doctor other than Dr. Fauxi. That way, GEOTUS won't have to fire Fauxi, just don't have him at every briefing... maybe once a week or so.

Get someone with the right credentials, but isn't a complete lefty like Fauxi; he loves Hillary Clinton and is in the WikiLeaks emails!

And what's up with Fauxi going on TV shows? He's turning into Dr. Oz. He needs to shut up until POTUS tells him he can talk, and then, stick to the facts.

Looks like Trump would have been 100% right to open her back up by Easter

2
rx1994z 2 points ago +2 / -0

Completely agree. Medical community made decisions based on bad data coming out of China and biased data coming out of Italy. Time to re-open the country and those that don't feel safe can stay home forever.

You know he’s bad when media freaks out when he’s not at press conferences. And also when you see that the streaming press conferences carried by establishment media have his picture on link.

Fauci said millions could die. That’s how he talked Trump into all this shit. I’ll be interesting if the Fauci Doomsday Scenario plays out anywhere in the world. Somehow I doubt it.

Abuela and Pop Pop can self- isolate at home. We cannot stop the world every time some badass flu comes around.

1
zuccherina 1 point ago +1 / -0

The problem I see with that is not the fact he was wrong. It's that instead of admitting he was wrong and changing course, he doubled down and kept happily believing graph after graph. We didn't have a lot of information about the virus, the seed date, or anything else - so I can give officials a pass as they were figuring things out. But after 2 bad models, they should have learned their lessons.

GOP lawmakers say that Fauci may be doing more harm than good

YOU DON'T SAY?

2
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fauci is a connected Democrat who reached out to the Clinton campaign to praise and declare his love for Hillary Clinton. His only allegiance is to the Democrat Party, not the people of the United States of America.

2
lifeisahologram 2 points ago +2 / -0

Trump should just promote Fauci to “Director of Corona Elite”, which can be headquartered in Iraq, or possible Antarctica, whichever’s worse...err, I mean more beneficial to the department!

His job is to be the Director, so he has to direct all Corona Elite operations. He can do this by typing all his decisions in at https://www.cleverbot.com/.

That should keep him busy.

Don't need to fire him. When ignoring him is the correct thing then you simply ignore him.
