They already knew. The CO of the ship was already fired for an email regarding it leaking to the press, and it's been public knowledge that the ship has already pulled into port and nearly 4000 of the 6000 Sailor crew have already debarked the ship last week.
So, after cancelling the mission and scaring the crap out of all the dependents and loved ones back home, it turns out that their long and cramped journey together with the most dangerous and contagious virus in all of computer modeled history, with 92% of the entire crew tested, less than ten percent of them have returned a positive result for the virus and last I heard, no hospitalizations.
Other than it being an issue because we need those ships to be conflict ready at all times, you're talking about a ship full of some of the healthiest people out there, almost all within the ideal age group...
This isn't nearly the same as a cruise ship full of old fat retired people.... Big fucking difference
